Congratulations to Dr. Maria Leis and Dr. Hunster Yang!
Both recipients are outstanding individuals who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to their fields. Dr. Leis is a champion for women's health and an advocate against gender-based violence, while Dr. Yang is passionate about serving rural communities and vulnerable populations. We are proud to recognize their achievements. https://t.co/ZqbIIqDV0i
Dr. Maria Leis is receiving the Margaret Owen Waite Memorial Fund Grant. She recently attended the @UN Commission on the Status of Women as FMWC youth delegate to advocate for populations whose voices often go unheard. #FMWC100#WomenInMedicine#GenderEquality@UN_Women
I’m really proud of this recent paper in #Emotion. Our superstar team (👋 @AnnieCGilbert@MariaLeis6@CasClab & Jess Burdo!) created morphed voice recordings to examine the slope of listeners' recognition accuracy as a fxn of emotional intensity. Read at: https://t.co/jowLP5YmRm

Dear #Toronto,
We are a group of 50+ doctors living & working with Black and Indigenous communities who have come together to say ‘Enough is Enough’
We demand the defunding of police & direct reallocation of resources because policing is a public health crisis

This Morning, we would like to give a huge shout out to our Co-President @SemirBulle who was on @CP24 last night!
He does a truly fantastic job contextualizing what having the largest class of Black Medical Students in Canadian History means to our people.
Proud of You ❤️
How would you have us protest? You ridicule us when we kneel. You beat us when we try to speak. You assault us and use tear gas when we are peaceful. So I ask you again - how would you have us protest?
Thank you to the wonderful group of students who have set up this #COVID initiative to:
(1) share info about domestic violence & helplines for survivors;
(2) provide support to local women's shelters;
(3) advocate for increased access to sexual & reproductive health services.
SO proud of @justin_wj_lim for sharing his brave story; let’s all make sure we end the harmful discrimination and labeling practices which are currently entrenched in our healthcare systems
Thank you @CMAJ for letting me share what started off as only a reflection (??rambling of incoherent thoughts) written for a @UofTMDprogram assignment. We need to think twice about what we label as “risk factors” in medicine.

To be clear: Abortion is NOT an elective medical procedure. It's essential healthcare and must be available during the pandemic. It can't be delayed. Patients can't wait until an undetermined later date to get an abortion. We need to make access available throughout the pandemic.
"It is necessary that Canada makes a statement in promoting women’s reproductive health and empowerment by providing federally sponsored universal coverage to contraception." - @MariaLeis6, @uoftmedicine student.
