Art Historian. “The ultimate hidden truth of the world is that it is something that we make, and could just as easily make differently" - David Graeber 🚫NoDMs
Your annual reminder that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was a radical anti-imperialist who described the US government as "the greatest purveyor of violence in the world today."
His words have only become more important with time.
Capitalism dismantled commons and self-provisioning, then calls the resulting dependency “freedom.” You can’t choose independence when the means were enclosed generations ago.
Debt turns survival coercion into a time contract. Education, housing, and healthcare are accessed by pledging future labor, often before full comprehension is possible.
Property relations aren’t respected by choice. They’re enforced by courts, police, and eviction. A system upheld by force doesn’t become voluntary because the violence is bureaucratic.
A voluntary system allows exit without punishment. Capitalism doesn’t. Leaving means exposure to poverty, criminalization, or dependency. “Just opt out” is a rhetorical fantasy.
Wage labor isn’t a “preference.” It’s a survival requirement for people without assets. Negotiation isn’t symmetric when one side can wait and the other needs rent money.
Capitalism restricts access to life-support systems... land, housing, food, energy through artificial scarcity. You don’t work because resources are scarce, you work because access is gated.
Capitalism is called “voluntary,” yet no one consents to enter it. You’re born into a system where food, shelter, and healthcare are monetized. Participation isn’t chosen, it’s assumed. Survival is the entry fee.
Fascism isn’t the opposite of capitalism. It’s capitalism under pressure, when markets fail to secure consent, the system shifts to force. Different aesthetics. Same structure.
@HeldinEU Good night Held! Sleep well 😴
This is stunning! 'Road to Cosmodrome' is such an iconic image of space-age hope. It captures that unique Soviet-era optimism and the serene yet ambitious spirit that made their space program legendary.
Sweet dreams! xx ✨🚀🌌
I don’t understand this visceral hatred of Russia. I have never felt threatened by them. They do not murder or kidnap foreign heads of state or foment regime changes in the global south. They have never threatened our country the way we threaten them, nor have they bombed us.
Ideologies function less as truth frameworks and more as classification systems. They label people, arguments, and behaviors so institutions can predict, sort, and manage dissent, without ever addressing root structure.
