(1/3) In addition to the mental trauma the people in Myanmar are going through, this sort of unkind comment really ignored the struggle of many ethnic minority groups as well as the Burmese majority who had again and again fought back against the military dictatorship.

In front of the eyes of the world today #junta attacked civilians enjoying a concert in #Hpakant showing its disregard for human life and #GenevaConvention. Such an attack is not the act of an army responding to a government but of a #terrorist group

This comes just days before @ASEAN foreign ministers are slated to meet and discuss #Myanmar crisis

Since the last ASEAN foreign ministers meeting - when Cambodia PM Hun Sen warned Myanmar over political executions - violence in Myanmar has not stopped

It's a year since there were calls for aviation fuel sanctions. The UK, USA, EU and others didn't listen. This is the price.

The Myanmar military's war crimes and crimes against humanity are enabled by the continued flow of arms, jet fuel & revenue.

We demand coordinated, targeted sanctions NOW against the junta and its biz associates, a #GlobalArmsEmbargo and a ban on jet fuel.

Price for our freedom has been high. From hanging political prisoners, raids and burning villages, torture, rape and decapitating bodies, to an aerial attack in A Nang Pa in Kachin today.

How many more atrocities will it take for the world to punish the junta for these crimes?

The unspeakable horror of more than 50 civilian lives lost when Myanmar’s junta used air strikes to target a music event in Kachin. Let this be a message to the ASEAN foreign ministers when they meet this week: take decisive measures against a military regime out of control.

[Burma Campaign UK @burmacampaignuk]

Horrific reports of 60 killed & 200 injured by Burmese military airstrikes on a music festival in Kachin State last night. We are trying to confirm details.

We renew our call for aviation fuel sanctions to try to help stop these attacks.
