As someone currently pursuing a PhD I am CONSTANTLY reevaluating and wondering if the work I'm doing is worth it. Truth is? I have no idea. But anger is a powerful motivator and this election just lit a major fire under my ass. It's time to change the way we fight.
As an aspiring educator, this is devastating. What's the point of having all these profound "intellectual" conversations in academia if they only stay within the four walls of the institution? Academia we NEED to do more public-facing work. Academics we NEED to do better.
WOW just wow. I legitimately have goosebumps after this premiere. Seeing one of my all time favorite games / stories come to life in new ways in a different medium is beyond exciting.
The show is taking heavily from the game, but also contextualizing and expanding in ways that add new layers of emotional depth and world building and I’m so here for it
This theme visually is hitting on another level. The music once again hitting me in a way that lets me know I AM NOT ready for this show. The challenge: getting through this premiere without crying
Sarah waking up in her bedroom and their entire morning convo already has me in tears. Also did not expect Pedro Pascal to be so…Joel. His voice, his reactions, the way he said shit. Like damn HBO u did not need to go this hard
3 minutes in and I am BEYOND uncomfy with how they’re planting the question of “how do we make the cordyceps fungus / zombie mutation more terrifying” answer: by stating global warming makes it more plausible. Didn’t need that. No thanks
Because the game itself didn’t devastate me enough evidently. Can my emotional state handle this? Probably not. Am I watching regardless? Absolutely without a doubt. Bring on the clickers #TheLastOfUs
And there are people STILL out there claiming the U.S. is the best country in the world. What a joke. Welcome to America - an quickly devolving laughingstock
