Happy 29th birthday to the iconic Jungkook.

The Grammy-nominated global star has cemented his status as one of pop culture's most prominent artists through a series of critical and commercial achievements. His impact has been recognized by major publications such as Rolling Stone naming him one of the greatest singers of all time, Billboard ranking him as the Top K-Pop Artist of 2024 and Forbes Korea naming him one of the most impactful celebrities of the year. The singer-songwriter launched his solo era with one of 2023’s biggest songs. The release debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and achieved historic streaming milestones on Spotify such as setting the record for the most-streamed track in a single week by a male artist and becoming the fastest song by a male artist to reach both 100 million and 1 billion streams on the platform.

#JIN's "Don't Say You Love Me" has now surpassed 1 billion streams on Spotify.

With more and more media outlets now picking up the conversation around BTS’s decision, it’s clear this has become a much bigger discussion about how global artists are recognized and represented 🤔

As a South Korean company that has supported K-pop artists for years, we believe we have a responsibility to stand with artists not only when they’re breaking records, but also when they choose to stand by their own principles.

Great artistry deserves equal recognition, regardless of language or origin.

We’ll continue to stand behind artists who help move the industry forward ❤️

#Opinion | Popstars BTS have spent years proving they belong on the world's biggest stage. They've topped charts, sold out stadiums and built fanbases that stretch across continents. And every single time they seem ready to be judged by the same standards as everyone else, the rules somehow change. The septet choosing not to submit their record-breaking album Arirang for the 2027 Grammy Awards is one of biggest and bold moves in recent times, following The Weeknd who stopped submitting his music since 2021.

BTS announce they will not submit their music for the 2027 grammy awards following the recording academy’s addition of a new asian-focused category.

“i hope music itself can be heard and loved rather than being distinguished by region or language.”

Back in February, when we dropped our #BTS cover story, RM dropped some hints that the Grammys weren't the band's top priority these days. Just today, the band announced via coordinated Instagram posts that they “have decided not to submit for Grammy consideration this year.”

“We hope our music can be heard and loved for what it is, rather than being divided by region or language. We thank Army and everyone who has always stood by us,” the message said.
