Talent often shows up first as curiosity, discipline, and the way someone responds to critique—not just technical skill

昔、大手美術予備校で講師をしていたとき、何百人という学生を見てきた。

すると、入ってきたばかりの段階でも「この子は何年後かには藝大に受かるだろうな」というカンが働くことがある。

逆に、「この子は何年やってもたぶん受からないだろうな」というのも、なんとなくわかる。

それは他の講師も同じで、そういう学生には別の進路をそれとなく勧めたりする。

でも、本人はどうしても藝大に行きたい。
だから何浪もして努力を続ける。それでも、やはり受からない。

たとえば、「色が違うよ」と言っても、その違いを感覚ではわかってもらえない。

「こことあれを比べたら」とか、「塗り始めはこの色使って」とか細かく手順や数値にして伝えたら、再現はできる。

でも、感覚的に「何が違うのか」がわかっているわけではない。

経験と学習をすれば平均以上にはなるが、それ以上を目指さないといけない世界では無理がでる。

才能が努力の代わりになるのではなく、才能があることで努力に複利が働くのだと思う。
