Trial attorneys oppose a tribunal for medical malpractice claims. A tribunal would help prevent frivolous, nusaince cases from going forward, lower settlement costs to insurers (results in rate reductions), protect docs so they *can take on risky cases, and significantly strengthen the case, and lower the cost, for plaintiffs/patients when malpractice does occur.
Other states have this protection in place. This is supported by the liability insurers who underpin our healthcare system, as well as the RI Hospital Association and the Rhode Island Medical Society. Write in support of H7646 [email protected]@DutchRojas
Sir. Respectfully. You didn't possibly hope this post would land well, did you? My first reaction was : Is this satire? Is this rage-bait? Or, Is this... who you really are? Assuming it is your truth ... I'll weigh in, as compassionately as I can.
Your conscience and pain shows through your words. It appears, like most self-doubted, shameful confessions we make- you are desperately seeking any support. You seek understanding, kinship, and the validation that what you've done is justifiable. You appealed to science and logic, and hoped that might be a passable excuse. You're looking for someone, any stranger out there, to stem your conscience, and abject grief.
You've done a thing sir, and now you have to hold that forever and ever. I won't personally judge you, but the court of public opinion, which you willingly entered, is judging you harshly enough that you must now judge yourself. What an awful place to be. You've compounded your pain.
Perhaps, I suspect-- that was your goal -- because you know. You know. After all, you could have said, "we've lost the baby" but you willfully chose a public trial instead.
I read the comments. They are vitriolic. Perhaps your God wants you to see that, or perhaps that is just a human consequence. Either way, those words must hurt.
So- I suspect you didn't actually speak out for forgiveness and understanding? I suspect you spoke out because of a need to confess a guilty soul and to pay that price as publicly, and humiliatingly as possible. You've achieved that. Brave, and frankly, deserved.
Now you must live with yourself. That won't be easy. I mean this kindly, truly I do: I suggest counseling for your loss, and grief, and *self-recrimination which is so evident. PTSD is a very real outcome when one is victimized, but also when one creates their own prison.
You are a *eugenicist, one less troubled mouth to feed, one less limited soul for society to carry. One less literal burden for you and your wife. How comfortable, convenient. Do, go, enjoy your fortunate future without care.
But get the counseling.
Might delete bc ... shock.
@yasistahsazz@TedNesi@TimWhiteRI I'm so GenX, I still catch my breath over $1m. Today, we talk $billions. I'm falling over. Frankly? The math ain't mathing. Grateful for ONE thing in the budget : the IG; which 8/10 Rhode Islanders support.
Not political, just human.
My last baby is graduating high school Friday night. His sisters and I decorated his car. This marks childhood's end and the on-ramp to bigger things. This Momma's heart is bursting: pride, but so bitter-sweet.
With no more babies at home, I'm just going to have to "politic harder" to fill the hours. My kids don't mind when my focus turns to community and not "micro-managing" them. 😂
Onward, Alex, for both of us.

2022: Call my doctors office, tell receptionist I am running five minutes late, apologize, hang up
2026: Call doctors office, get routed to a new company-wide "AI assistant," navigate phone tree, get put on hold to wait for a human at a call center, wait 6 minutes, explain to human agent what is going on, get put on hold while human agent calls my physical doctors office to tell them for me
This is not better
Steinbeck is my favorite, and not just his best ... But All of his work. He showed, time and again, the plight of lower class working people in this nation with no apologies for the ugly truths. Kids should be reminded of the dust bowl, the canneries, the farmers, and the real struggles in 20th cent. We are erasing that history. His themes are onions, peel back the layers... He said so much.
I say he is my favorite... But truth be known, I have many favorites. I can defend them all.
Just a friendly reminder that libraries are free.
Not “free trial” free.
Not “free with ads” free.
Not “free if you give us all of your data” free.
But free free.
This is how I was taught critical reasoning. Students were given BOTH sides w solid articles and then asked to find the flaws and strengths across them. Today-- this is absent in curriculum. Doesn't that explain so much? We must return to this model.
Thomas Sowell describes how he taught students:
“I’d spend a great deal of time putting together a reading list, where I’d find the strongest argument on one side and then the best example of the opposing view.”
“I didn’t test students on which side they believed. I tested them on whether they understood the arguments on both sides.”
I spent over 35 years as a surgeon. I've seen what works and what doesn't. And right now, Washington isn't working for Rhode Islanders.
I'm not going to be extremely far right. I'm not going to be extremely far left. I'm going to be far normal which is where my constituents are.
Healthcare costs that crush families. A national debt our kids will inherit. Social Security and Medicare that need real solutions not political games. These aren't Republican problems or Democrat problems. They're our problems.
Fixing them will take someone willing to work across the aisle, put people over party, and never lose sight of who they actually work for.
Every time I have to set up some account online, or retrieve an old username, and jump through a million hoops, I wonder how actual eldery people are able to function in this world.
All major protests have been organized and funded. Civil rights and labor for example were highly organized, and validly so. Riots are usually the result when there is no guiding organization.
Humans don't just "show up" they must be lead. History shows it- even the French Revolution had organizers.
It's nothing new-
