Kim Goeun's Grand Prize (Daesang) acceptance speech at the 5th Blue Dragon Series Awards 🏆

"Thank you so, so much. First of all, it's such an honor and a joy to be here and have the chance to see so many of my respected seniors and colleagues whom I only get to meet at events like this.

Earlier, while watching the nominees for Best Drama, I felt incredibly proud because two of the nominated works were projects I had the privilege of being part of. That made me think of all the wonderful people I worked with.

Now that I think about it, I'll accept this award as recognition for all the hard work that went into You and Everything Else, The Price of Confession, and Yumi's Cells.

At this moment, I'm reminded of all the senior actors and actresses who have worked with me. I've been incredibly fortunate to work alongside such amazing seniors. I was able to follow them, learn from them, and grow because of them. Someday, I hope I can become that kind of senior for someone else.

Jihyun, Jaewon, thank you so much. Haesoo sunbaenim, thank you. To our directors and writers... And to my family and friends who are probably watching right now, thank you so, so much. I love you. To everyone at my agency, I'm so flustered right now, but thank you all so much. I'll call you later.

I've never once taken it for granted that I get to make projects like these. That's why, with every project, I try to approach my work sincerely, earnestly, and with a strong sense of responsibility. As an actress, I want to keep discovering new sides of myself and continue giving people reasons to be curious about what I'll do next. I'll continue working very hard, so please keep looking for me and continue giving me opportunities. I'll work even harder from here on. Thank you once again."

kim goeun shared her feelings on her recent streak of hit projects along with sweeping major awards:

“even if you act diligently and express a character well, there are times when people don’t notice it, or when you don’t receive recognition. i believe you can only receive praise when all the rhythms align perfectly. it is a miracle that i continuously met good projects. i wonder if a period like this will ever come again in my acting career.”

“since my debut until now, i have worked really hard. i can be proud of that. i worked harder because i was lacking, and i always approached it with the mindset of doing my best. i will continue to work hard, just as i am now. there will definitely be times when things don’t go well. i might misinterpret a project or a character. however, i plan to work hard and do my best, without fail.”

KGE: For me, beauty isn't about looking good physically, but about looking like the character. I think if you dress up in a way that allows you to immerse yourself, that's beauty. I don't think it's good to have anything that distracts you from your focus. I think beauty is something that allows you to fully focus on the play.

it’s been said that for the past few years, all scripts for female leads in chungmuro go to kim goeun first. one measure of an actor’s power is whether their name alone can attract investors to a project, and currently, kim goeun is the only actress who possesses this power.

last year at the blue dragon film awards, jang jaehyun, the director of exhuma (which won best director), teared up during his acceptance speech and said “kim goeun, i am thankful that you are a korean actress.” i was in the audience at the time, and i welled up with tears, thinking it was the greatest compliment an actor could ever receive.

the price of confession is yet another work that makes it clear why she receives such praise.
