During my PhD, my interest in 'animals and the politics of suffering' led me to investigate farm inspection schemes. Reflecting on broader issues of #animalpolitics and #ethicsofwitnessing it now appears in the Sociological Review, illustrated by gifted @Mina_Mimosa

This Open Access publication is the result of excellent editorial efforts by Kadri Aavik, Kuura Irni & Milla-Maria Joki. I am grateful to have been part of this important dialogue!
Thrilled and humbled to see my work published in this beautiful collection that critically interrogates the exploitation of people, other animals & ecological systems: "Feminist Animal and Multispecies Studies: Critical Perspectives on Food and Eating" https://t.co/dN1DOchL1x

So often, we fail despite our commitment to care. I can't think of a more excellent and disturbing example than what takes place on animal farms. In my thesis, I explore alternative conceptions of care at sanctuaries. Thank you @Mina_Mimosa for your beautiful artwork
1/7 I am delighted to have been given a doctor's degree by the most wonderful examining committee:
@Richie Nimmo, Martina Angela Caretta and
@Jannice Käll. People I truly admire for their excellent and passionate research. The same goes for David Redmalm, the external reviewer🙏
2/7 The cover by amazing Mina Mimosa captures the essence of my work on “the politics of suffering” where I uncover mainstream responses to the situation of farmed animals in industrialised agriculture.
7/7 In sum, my thesis describes “the politics of suffering” that characterises mainstream responses to the situation of farmed animals in industrial agriculture.
There is much more that needs to be said but this was a start!
6/7 The fourth article explores the challenges of creating sanctuary for previously abused and farmed animals and the aspiration for multispecies flourishing.
This piece will come out later this year in an edited volume on feminist animal and multispecies studies.
