Image series on my discord among many other sketches and drawings I don't put here ;) It's only accessible through being subbed on either patreon or fanbox
Anyway, the reason I dont post that many sketches and drawings on here anymore is because it's mainly paywalled now on my discord archive. I wish I didn't have to.
I always thought it was cliche and fake when creators said "The reason I continue is because of you guys", but finally it's true for me too. I love your comments, your attention, you liking my art. I no longer enjoy drawing in the way I used to, but I still wanna keep going.
I hate having to do finances myself, paying taxes as a company and not a independent person, dealing with all the bullshit of having my own company and all the paperwork. I despise it. I'm just not built for it.
I hate marketing my art. I hate the process of having to post it with tags, description and title. I hate trying to lure people into my paywalls to see art I don't even think is worth paying for. I hate being ungenuine. I hate having to deal with patreon and fanbox.
I wish I just had a easy answer to it like, "if you draw 1 illustration every day of anything uw, you'll make it". Then I could stop thinking and just draw, but it's really not that simple...
I think it would easy for me to make a living if I accepted commissions more regularly, but when I can barely draw art of my oc's, others requests can feel pretty impossible at times
There are projects like creating a game and a visual novel that has made me excited to keep going, but it's generally temporary and always falls back to "What should I do after this?"
I dont feel invested enough in my "art career" to even think of new ways to earn more. It's a combination of lazy, being on anxiety meds and not actually liking the process of drawing anymore. What keeps me drawing is all the people who enjoy my art.
5 years into art, I'm still trying to figure out whether I wanna do art for a living or not. Currently I am doing art for a living even though I still question it everyday, but I barely earn enough at my current phase, and this will no longer be enough in a year from now.
