Fan project by @artsyomni. Taking old, obscure, and forgotten Mario characters and content and giving them new life through art & animation! (Not a fangame)
A little something I'm cooking up!
I had hoped that I'd be able to make more spooky things for the spooky season, but alas, I was only able to make progress on one. Still a ways to go. Hopefully by next year, I'll have a handful! #b3d#wip#Halloween#supermario

Still no new content to post yet, as I've been focusing on work for @TheRollinRascal in the past few months, but I hope to be able to resume in the later part of February!
Hope you're all having a good 2024 so far! Just wanted to let you all know that I've created an Instagram for the project! (link in replies) The insta won't have any of the process stuff, so it'll serve as a clean gallery.
On a positive note, I've lost 15 pounds in 60 days and I've learned new habits that are sustainable, so as I reach my goal weight in the next couple months, I anticipate it'll be easier to balance personal art again.
Just a brief update: it's been a while since I've been able to work on the project. I've recently been trying to take my health and fitness more seriously, which has left less time for personal projects. But new artwork is definitely still on my mind!
Tune in on Sept. 14 at 7 a.m. PT for a #NintendoDirect livestream featuring roughly 40 minutes of information focused on #NintendoSwitch games releasing this winter.

@flinkogo I was also trying to stick to renders that had Mario in a more straightforward standing pose from similar angles, and most of the renders during the Wii U era are a lot more dynamic, making them less suitable for comparing body proportions in a very apples-to-apples manner.
I think it's worthwhile to also point out how this correlates to the gradual changes on the 3D side of things. Much of this is my own speculation, but it's interesting to see the progression.
Keep squishing, Nintendo.
@flinkogo The image was not intended to be comprehensive. Mario's proportions stabilized quite a lot once it hit the wii era and only very recently started to change more significantly, so there wasn't a lot of progression during the Wii U era.
@Gustly_Wind Yeah, it's a pretty relaxing style to emulate. And once I settle on a sketch in photoshop, all of the rendering can be done in illustrator, which is always nice.
I'm thinking I might start making Kotabe/Nakaue-style 2D artwork of the characters I've modeled. Would be nice to get back some of my 2D chops that I've lost since focusing more on 3D in recent years.
