Chassé par la porte avec l’échec du programme Constellation, Fincantieri revient par la fenêtre : l’industriel italien veut proposer sa nouvelle FREMM EVO pour équiper l’US Navy.

L’ironie est savoureuse puisque la Constellation était justement dérivée de la FREMM italienne. Sauf qu’à force d’exiger des modifications, les Américains avaient fini avec un navire qui ne partageait plus que 15 % de son dessin avec la FREMM d’origine, avant que les retards et surcoûts ne conduisent à l’annulation du programme.

Cette fois, Fincantieri veut imposer une règle simple : la FREMM EVO telle quelle, ou rien. L’Italien dispose en plus d’un atout de taille avec son chantier de Marinette Marine, dans le Wisconsin, déjà modernisé pour produire des navires militaires américains.

Washington pourrait surtout être obligé d’écouter. Face à une marine chinoise de plus de 370 navires, les États-Unis envisagent désormais d’acheter des bâtiments conçus et construits à l’étranger, avant de transférer progressivement leur production vers les chantiers américains selon le fameux « Finland Model ».

Today, the delivery of the PPA - Multipurpose Combat Ship “Domenico Millelire”, that we built for the Italian Navy, took place in Muggiano. The ceremony was attended by Admiral Aurelio De Carolis, Commander in Chief of the Naval Fleet, Chief Inspector Admiral Cristiano Nervi, Director of NAVARM, and Joachim Sucker, Director of the Organisation Conjointe de Coopération en matière d'Armement (OCCAR); they were welcomed by our Chairman Biagio Mazzotta, our CEO, Pierroberto Folgiero, and our General Manager of Naval Vessels Division, Eugenio Santagata.

With 143 meters long overall and a speed of more than 31 knots, the PPA is a highly flexible ship with the capacity to serve multiple functions, ranging from patrol with sea rescue capacity to Civil Protection operations and, in its most highly equipped version, first line fighting vessel, also thanks to different configurations of combat system.

A new vessel that confirms our commitment, alongside the Navy, to developing cutting-edge solutions and systems to bring a safer future on board.

Deux CB90 suédois viennent de traverser l’Atlantique pour être testés par les forces canadiennes. Ces vedettes peuvent transporter 18 soldats à près de 74 km/h et débarquer directement sur des côtes peu profondes.

Ce test s’inscrit dans un rapprochement beaucoup plus large avec la Suède : Ottawa a déjà sélectionné 6 avions radar GlobalEye et étudie toujours une alternative au F-35 américain avec le Gripen.

Pour l’instant, aucun achat de CB90 n’est signé, mais le Canada cherche clairement à diversifier ses fournisseurs militaires.
