I walked around the new Technology Development Center plot on my recent trips to Kyoto. Here are a couple of photos I took, one looking towards the main HQ and another looking out towards the existing Nintendo Development Center No. 1 . I was dodging thunderstorms at the time!
Nintendo's new Technology Development Center in Kyoto is due for completion March 2029 and will serve as a new R&D base for Nintendo software and hardware. Plus developer space. They'll be 9 floors above ground and 1 below ground. Oh, to be a fly on the wall when it's built!

I’ve not been here for 19 years, and I’m pleased to say @bandai_toys have expanded their impressive museum. Another of the great Japanese toy companies with the same spirit as Nintendo, even developing videogames and the Apple Bandai Pippin, Playdia and Wonderswan. #バンダイ本社 #bandaioffice
[Notice] A new dining facility, SUPER FAMILY RESTAURANT, will open at Nintendo Museum in the fall of 2026.
We are currently preparing a variety of menu items, including food and desserts. More details, including the opening date, will be announced at a later date.
This is my favourite of the Color TV Games, there's something so 1970s about the colour scheme and logo! Miyamoto-san designed both the casing and the box artwork apparently. It shows that the best designers can turn their hands to different types of media and still have success! https://t.co/ina61FqEhA
3 different sizes of Nintendo playing cards from the https://t.co/6ytX28VP8u collection (or 'Trump' as they're known in Japan). King size (1990s), Regular size (2000s) and miniature (1960s).
It's been 32 years already?! Wow. The esteemed @ima_1966 was in charge of creating the Super Game Boy screen below, designed to bring to life Donkey Kong Game Boy software in full colour! I just learnt this was the only Game Boy title that Imamura-san was involved with. 👌

9/ Donkey Kong (1994) – A remake of the arcade classic, evolving into a puzzle-platformer, introducing Mario to backflips later seen in Super Mario 64! Among the first to support the Super Game Boy featuring work by respected artist Takaya Imamura (@ima_1966), known for Star Fox.
@picopicogamer@gamer_lafan I’m not sure “ever” is correct. I bought Super Mario Bros Sweater from there 20 years ago for equivalent £250GBP, now worth at least 3-4 times that.
@gamer_lafan I’d have to agree, although I still thought Osaka Super Potato was a lot better than the one in Akihabara. Felt like that one had been completely ravaged compared to when I first visited in 2006.
