🇦🇱🇦🇱🇦🇱 The students and young people protesting against Prime Minister Edi Rama's government are not enemies of Albania. They are the future of the Albanian nation!

Prime Minister @ediramaal must understand one thing: The government exists to serve the people, and it belongs to the people.

Students demanding better education, greater opportunities, accountability, and democracy deserve to be heard, not confronted with force. History has taught us that the voice of the people cannot be silenced by force, nor can a government hold on to power through violence.

🇺🇸 In a letter to the new U.S. Ambassador to Albania, Eric Wendt (@USEmbassyTirana), I expressed my deep concern about the situation unfolding in the country. I am deeply troubled by the disturbing images of students being arrested, reports of excessive police force, and the mistreatment of journalists covering the protests.

I therefore urged Ambassador Wendt to ensure that America does not remain a passive observer of these events, but takes an active role in defending democratic rights and freedoms in Albania.

For more than a century, from President Woodrow Wilson to the present day, America has stood by the Albanian people 🇺🇸🇦🇱 Today, once again, Albanians look to their greatest friend for support.

Albania needs real democracy. It needs a government that serves its people and answers to them, not one that suppresses student protests and responds to their demands with force.

In the coming days, the Albanian-American community will work with our friends in Washington to stand up for democracy and defend the rights and freedoms of the people of Albania.
