This week our Country Director, Mercy Sibande, is visiting the schools we support in #Malawi. She speaks to each and every one of the girls we support. Gets to know them, checks for appropriateness of selection and makes the world a better place. Thanks 🙏 Mercy! #GirlsEducation
A v pleasant task for today is to thank those of you who have been so generous over the last few days. Thanks for your support of our work and, specifically, our Maths-sets & Calculators appeal, which will close next week. #girlsEducation in #Malawi

We offer condolences to the family and friends of #DesmondTutu and to the people of #SouthAfrica. This great man will be mourned the world over but esp in #Africa where he was a monumental presence for so long. He lived his beliefs #peace#justice Let us all strive to do the same
On #WorldChildrensDay2021 we think of all the children whose #childhood end in 'marriage' even where it is against the law as in #Malawi. We stand with those battling against it in #Malawi and continue our work to keep girls in school - a vital weapon against this outrage.
Termly report from MMF #Malawi manager includes this about the fund we have for needs other than fees: ".. Fund is helping our girls, if it was not there some of these girls would not be able to accomplish their goal of secondary education although fees already paid for them."
I know how the odds are stacked. They're stacked against kids growing up from backgrounds like mine.
Labour's #10By10 ambition is for all kids to take part in extracurricular activities by ten. It's time to end the Tories' poverty of ambition for working class kids
These comments are appalling. It’s not up to women to fix this. It’s not us who need to change. The problem is male violence, not women’s ‘failure’ to find ever more inventive ways to protect ourselves against it. For change to happen, this needs to be accepted by everyone.
Love to @MariotDallas after @thekiltwalk yesterday. 16.5 miles! She is so tired but v encouraged by everyone's support, moral, practical and financial. All donations are topped up 50% so she has raised a girl's fees for all of her sec schooling in #Malawi https://t.co/nDbKBiyU13
We think #ILD2021 is a great time to launch the @thekiltwalk appeal on behalf @MariotDallas and #TeamMMF. 100 years ago Mariot's grandmother went to Malawi and her commitment to girls' education is carried on my MMF today. #InternationalLiteracyDay

What small ambitious countries can do when they are driven by compassion & looking after each other. Rather than passing the buck blaming the people or waxing lyrically abt 'Global Britain' while handing public services over to your pals.
