Told my dad that my grandparents must be up there pulling strings because I matched. He said to me "don't think anything that is happening right now is for any reason other than your hard work" and my imposter syndrome needed that πβ¨π§ #Match2024#psychiatry
So grateful to have been recognized. Doesn't feel like work when it's a passion. Thank you to the best mentor @tcelltracker for making this all achievable. Can't wait to continue patient education work in psychiatry @ a place TBD in 1 week! #Match2024#psychiatry#EquityResearch
Was asked if I was a social worker by a patient w/ a stroke after chatting with her about her kids and cats to keep her calm during work up and clot buster tx. While some might be offended, I was flattered. Doctors (even future ones) can spend the time supporting patients too!!
The fact that I am happy to be spending part of my Sunday reading up on a patient reaffirms that I am choosing the right specialty! So honored and excited to start my final Sub-I at the best psychiatric hospital in the US @McLeanHospital#medtwitter#psychedforpsych#Match2024
AAMC removing average step scores, experience stats, and the most common medical schools that match there from Residency Explorer is only making me apply to even more programs. How is this beneficial for applicants? #medtwitter#ERAS2024
"Send your personal statement to as many people as possible for edits"
Quickly finding out how each specialty wants different things in a personal statement and family/friends not in medicine want me to regurgitate my CV... The more people that look at it the more confused I get
As if my imposter syndrome wasn't bad enough... Every drug rep that comes in asks if I am the new student-"PA or nursing" and that is where they stop. Having to constantly qualify myself as a MEDICAL student has been one of the more mentally exhausting parts of 3rd year.
This year, Iβve been putting together reference letters for students. After years involved in residency and medical school selection, Iβve noticed biases in how women are talked about. Since none of us (including myself) are immune, this guide is helpful:
The advice for #match2023 has been 'apply for as many and as geographically wide as you can.' Except for many that's impossible. No. 1 requirement for me? Do I have access to trans healthcare.
No 2? Can I introduce my husband without fear of discrimination. 1/x
So excited to spend a weekend back home for #AAD2022 Will be missing a couple of the final lectures of M2 thhat coincidentally are the only derm lectures of the year but @AADskin will fill the gaps! ππ

#PrysmianWomenInSTEM @PrysmianNA It seems fitting to post this on #InternationalWomensDay2022
Femininity and intellect do not exist on a binary spectrum as some have tried to make me think. I chose STEM for the content, and I stay for the next generation of strong women.
@madisonnkist They look awesome! Were there no images of many of the viral exanthems in darker skin tones? Would be great to see the different presentations side by side esp. with the 'red' descriptions mostly applying to light skin!
