We don’t often think about the passage of time when we’re living in the moment. While today marks the 61st anniversary of I Dream of Jeannie, 61 years into the future was the furthest thought from my mind on that frigid day in December of 1964.

That was when we filmed the pilot on the beach at Point Dume!

When you’re filming on location, you don’t think about anything other than work. After all, daylight is changing, shadows are moving, wind is blowing. We were there to get the shots and get the job done on schedule.

Between hitting our marks and getting the shots, the biggest memory that stands out that day is that it was so horribly cold! There I was in a harem costume on the beach in December, shivering! It was so cold my lips were blue!

I look back now, at that day, and I truly cannot quite express how amazing it is to me that 61 years later, Jeannie is still with me. I had no idea what was starting on that beach, or how it would find a home in the hearts of so many, for so many years.

I also had no expectation that Jeannie, a delightful mythological, classic entity, would still be here! But she is, just over my shoulder, watching over everything!

I think of those magical 5 years of my life, where every day was an adventure. Between Larry and Billy and Hayden, and the whole crew, we never knew what would happen! Even with a script in hand, you could never predict everything. From our hilarious guest stars, to being locked in a safe and playing the wonderfully mischievous naughty twin sister…

I’ve said it many times and I mean it every time; I Dream of Jeannie was often more fun than work.

Here’s to 61 years of magic! To all the laughter, all the joy, all the silliness and adventures that remain with me in my heart today.

Here’s to you, the fans! Your love, dedication and fascination with the show keeps the magic alive. I cannot thank you enough for the love you’ve shown me and for the memories you’ve helped keep bright.

Bob Mackie was one of those people who knew how to make you feel like glittering magic, all you had to do was slip into one of his creations.

While the entertainment industry needed smoke and mirrors, all Bob needed was a few yards of sheer fabric, a needle and thread … and beads, lots and lots of beads!

When you wore one of Bob’s creations, you felt like a million dollars.

Bob’s imagination, designs and creations will continue in legend. Bob, your genius will continue to sparkle like the millions of beads you meticulously placed on those of us fortunate enough to have known you.

I still have my gowns and treasure them as much as the day I first put them on. Rest well Bob! -Barbara Eden

Oggi il nostro Governo diventa il più longevo della storia della Repubblica italiana.

È un dato che accolgo con gratitudine e con un forte senso di responsabilità. Perché la stabilità non è un record da esibire, ma la condizione che consente a una Nazione di programmare, decidere, mantenere gli impegni e farsi rispettare.

In questi anni abbiamo lavorato per aumentare l’occupazione, ridurre la disoccupazione, sostenere famiglie e imprese, rafforzare la sicurezza, governare i conti pubblici con serietà e restituire all’Italia peso e credibilità sulla scena internazionale. I risultati ci sono, ma sappiamo bene quante cose restino ancora da fare.

Questa stabilità non è merito di una persona sola. È il risultato di una coalizione unita, che governa da quattro anni con una visione comune e che ha scelto di stare insieme non contro qualcuno, ma per realizzare un progetto per l’Italia.

Non credo sia un caso che, da oggi, i tre Governi più longevi della storia repubblicana siano tutti governi di centrodestra. La stabilità si costruisce quando un’alleanza condivide valori, obiettivi e una visione della Nazione, non quando l’unica ragione per stare insieme è impedire agli altri di governare.

Ma soprattutto, questa stabilità esiste grazie agli italiani che nel 2022 ci hanno dato fiducia.

Una fiducia che non abbiamo mai considerato un assegno in bianco e che non daremo mai per scontata. Il prossimo anno torneremo davanti ai cittadini con quello che abbiamo fatto, con quello che resta da fare e con la nostra idea di futuro. E saranno ancora una volta loro a decidere se meritiamo di continuare questo cammino.

Intanto il lavoro va avanti.

E questa sera ci vediamo a Bari, insieme alla grande comunità di Fratelli d’Italia. Sarà l’occasione per guardarci negli occhi, fare il punto sulla strada percorsa e, soprattutto, parlare di quella che abbiamo ancora davanti.

Avanti, con i piedi per terra e lo sguardo rivolto al futuro.
