Hungary’s government has just created what many Hungarians would recognize as a new communist-style political police.

After removing constitutional officeholders and targeting political opponents, it is now building an institution with powers reminiscent of the old Communist-era secret police. It can conduct investigations, bring prosecutions, seize assets, take over companies, use wiretaps, deploy undercover agents, recruit informants, and even take over cases from the public prosecutor.

Just days after authorities seized the servers of Hungary’s largest opposition party - including its internal communications and membership database - these extraordinary powers are now being concentrated in a single politically controlled body.

Look at this. In Germany, it doesn't matter whether you earn 3,000 EUR or 6,000 EUR per month. The tax office equalizes you either way.

It means that someone who went to university for 5 years to get a degree will have the same disposable income as an uneducated truck driver who started working at age 18.

This isn't "fair". This is punishing people with talent in order to pay for people without.
