#BREAKING: The U.S. Air Force has identified the airman who died after falling during a pregame rappelling demonstration at the Alamodome on October 17.

Tech. Sgt. #IanPatterson, a 15-year veteran and Tactical Air Control Party instructor with the 6th Combat Training Squadron, Det. 2, was rappelling from the rafters as part of UTSA’s Salute to Armed Forces and Veterans night before the UTSA-Navy game.

He descended at high speed and struck the field. He was treated on site and taken to the hospital, where he later died.

The incident remains under investigation.

Rest in peace, Tech. Sgt. Patterson.
