@Left_Hegelian "... nonetheless truth and error, health and disease, good and evil, hope and fear in the concrete, would remain just what and where they are now."
@Left_Hegelian I'm thinking about ending my talk with a quote from Dewey: "Were it a thousand times dialectically demonstrated that life as a whole is regulated by a transcendent principle to a final inclusive goal,...
I'm presenting at the Hegel Society of America Conference on 'Hegel and Time' at Northwestern University this weekend. Here's the program if anyone in or near Chicago is interested in attending!
@Gattungswesen25 Stern has to downplay this passage, which seems to undermine his reading of Hegel: "When good and evil are placed before me I have a choice between the two; I can decide between them and endow my subjective character with either...
Proud to report that there is now a Public Thinking minor at @UChicago. A milestone for the program and something we hope will inspire more creative thinking at universities about the relationship between humanistic education and public discourse
The 28th biennial meeting of the Hegel Society of America will be at Northwestern next month (October 16-18). The reduced hotel rate is available until Friday (September 19). Information here: https://t.co/laxgK1cRD2

I had a wide-ranging conversation about Hegel with PJ Wehry at Chasing Leviathan, which included a moment when I found out the publication date of my new book (December 2026) https://t.co/sVYdRD0ZbT
@danielasilver12 I can easily imagine a philosopher who is not guilty of these faults. For example, Greg from HBO's Here and Now (2018) never uses fictional examples to establish a point about the real world. Not once.
