It appears the $12.1 million have not been used as intended: for excavation. Blacklock’s reports that the Department of Crown-Indigenous Relations now refuses to answer Access to Information requests about funds paid, claiming this information is “confidential.” Canadians are being denied access to information that goes directly to the truth of a matter of profound national importance. Transparency is the foundation of accountability and public trust. Secrecy of this kind does the opposite, undermining confidence in government and weakening its ability to maintain honest, constructive relationships with citizens.

Our CFO asked me to "audit" our software subscriptions last week.

He sent me a spreadsheet with 200 rows. Slack, Zoom, Jira, Notion, Trello, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday.

He wanted me to survey the team to see which tools were essential.

I told him: "Surveys are for people who care about feelings. I care about OpEx."

I deleted the spreadsheet.

Instead, I logged into the corporate Amex portal and reported the card as lost.

Every single auto-renewal in the company failed instantly.

I call this "The Scream Test."

It’s simple Darwinian procurement.

If a tool goes down and nobody runs to my desk screaming within 4 hours? We didn't need it.

The Marketing team was at my door in 10 minutes begging for Adobe. We renewed it. The Sales team was crying about the CRM in 20 minutes. We renewed it.

But here’s the interesting part.

The HR department’s "Employee Wellness & Engagement Portal" ($12,000/year) has been down for six days.

Not a single person has noticed.

I didn't just save money. I quantified the exact value of our corporate culture.

It is zero.

Stop auditing. Start unplugging. If it’s important, they’ll scream. If they don't scream, it’s just noise.

His reply came in 10 seconds:

"Wow. Thank you for catching that. Please, get some rest. We can reschedule."

The Lesson: Management doesn't know what we do. If you use words like "fragmentation" and "corruption," they won't fire you. They’ll thank you for your sacrifice.

Incompetence looks exactly like martyrdom if your vocabulary is technical enough.

It Took The RCMP Less Than 48 hrs To Launch An Investigation

Ontario MP Michael Ma announced this past Thursday Night at the Liberal Christmas Party — that he is leaving the Federal Conservative Caucus and joining the Liberal Party. Ma said in a statement that he made the decision after listening to his constituents in the riding of Markham-Unionville in the Greater Toronto Area.

The allegations are Foreign Chinese Interference, accusing first time MP Michael Ma of running a campaign under one political banner with the intent to cross the floor if successfully elected, fraud with intent to deceive, and accepting a bribe or other compensation. 1604-1914, England. Parliament passes over 5,000 Enclosure Acts allowing wealthy landowners to fence off common land and claim it as private property.

Before enclosures, a peasant family might own a cow or two, some chickens, perhaps a pig, grazing them on common land. This meant even poor families had regular access to milk, eggs, occasional meat.

Subsistence, but it included animal protein regularly.

Enclosure destroys this overnight. A family that owned a cow but no land now can't feed that cow. Common pasture is gone, fenced off, private property. They can't afford to rent pasture. They sell the cow. No cow. No milk. No beef. Protein access vanishes in a single legal transaction they had no say in.

By 1850, almost all common land is enclosed. Millions of rural families lose their means of keeping animals. Where do they go? To cities. The Industrial Revolution doesn't just happen because of technology. Enclosure creates a landless working class with no choice but factory work. They crowd into slums. They work 14-hour days. And they eat bread.

The landowners thrive. Large estates become incredibly profitable. The aristocracy eats better than ever. Multiple meat courses per meal. The Victorian gentleman farmer lives on animal protein while his workers live on bread and potatoes.

Victorian nutritionists develop theories about racial differences in nutritional needs. The labouring classes need simple carbohydrate fuel for physical work. The educated classes need protein for mental work. This isn't science. This is justification. Workers don't have money. Workers eat grain.

The Scottish Clearances follow the same pattern. Highland chieftains discover sheep farming is more profitable than tenant crofting. They evict thousands. These families had kept cattle, hunted deer, fished in streams. The clearances end all of that. Their descendants in Glasgow slums eat oatmeal and potatoes. The sheep that replaced them become mutton for English dinner tables.

Your great-great-great-grandfather lost access to animal protein when Parliament took the common land. You're losing access because health authorities tell you meat is dangerous and environmental groups tell you it's immoral. Enclosure never ended. It just got more sophisticated.
