Realization of the day:
I’m not actually driven by money. I want comfort and to provide for my family, but I don’t care about Ferraris or flexing.
What I’m really chasing is status through trust. Being widely known, being respected, having access to other respected people I can directly exchange value and collaborate with.
i have seen enough proof now that using a coding agent is a deep skill
it's confusing because the people you see heavily using them produce horrible results
but that's because it's a skill! you can get better and the ceiling seems pretty high - this is very exciting to me
Manual development for the sake of developing in the age of AI is the easiest way to go out of business.
I'm not saying you should vibe code everything.
I'm saying the old way of doing things is not the best way anymore.
I'm seeing this in actual businesses and agencies now, first hand. Scary stuff.
Another incredible random AI feat.
I, like many people, have a ridiculous amount of shit on my main PCs desktop.
I wanted to access it from my laptop when I'm away from my desk but I didn't want to go through the process of backing up 400 GB of files right now. I needed it quickly.
I already had Tailscale set up for my Hermes setup so I was able to very easily, with like two clicks, (actually Claude did all the work for me) expose it as a network drive on my laptop.
TIL: Large companies DO NOT have everything figured out.
I always assumed they did simply because they figured out how to scale.
In reality, they have problems that small shops or freelancers could solve for serious $$$
