What if the change our communities need starts with one informed young person?
Through meaningful conversations, shared experiences, and accurate information, we are empowering young people to make informed choices and build brighter futures.

As part of the ongoing Core Life Skills Training under the We Can Work Programme in Isingiro Town Council, yesterday, we partnered with the Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA) to strengthen financial literacy among young people with disabilities.
The IRA team facilitated an interactive session on insurance awareness, helping participants understand different insurance products, risk management, and the importance of long-term financial security.
The engagement empowered participants to make informed financial decisions in support of their careers, businesses, and future goals.

PEAFECTION Champion of the Month: Tumusiime Fred
While conducting a community outreach session in Amababare Central Village, Kashare Sub-county, Fred noticed a young mother named Provia who seemed hesitant to engage in a discussion on family planning.
After the session, he approached her, not with advice, but with a simple question about how she was doing.
As the conversation unfolded, Provia shared her story. A mother of three children born barely a year apart, she was struggling to meet her family's needs and feared becoming pregnant again.
Yet misinformation about family planning, coupled with her husband's opposition and cultural beliefs around child spacing, had left her feeling trapped and uncertain.
Fred listened without judgment. He acknowledged her fears, answered her questions honestly, and helped her understand the different family planning options available to her.
Through their discussion, Provia felt that an IUD would be the best option for her, but she remained concerned about her husband's reaction.
Fred accompanied Provia to a health facility and connected her with a nurse. Through continued engagement and dialogue, the health worker was able to involve her husband, address his concerns, and provide accurate information about family planning.
With the support she needed, Provia made an informed decision to use an IUD.
His story is a reminder that meaningful change often begins with compassion, and that sometimes the most powerful thing a peer educator can do is simply listen.

Ebola thrives on silence and fear, but we’re louder than that. As young people, we have the power to stop the spread before it starts. It’s about looking out for each other, staying clean, avoiding close contact, and speaking up quickly if someone shows symptoms. Report any suspected Ebola cases through the @MinofHealthUG toll-free: 0800-100-066 #FightEbolaUG #EbolaAwareness
Strong coordination of Age Care Organizations means stronger support systems for older persons everywhere as discussed by the committee members.

For a long time, I’ve wanted to see a space where founders can drop the corporate filters, sit at the same table, and talk about what it really takes to grow and sustain an organization or a business. Seeing it actually come to life today was incredibly fulfilling.
This is just the beginning. Over the next three days, we are diving deep into how we can align our efforts, share practical insights, and unpack what sustainable growth looks like for our organizations.
When founders collaborate instead of compete, the entire ecosystem wins.
Shoutout to everyone who showed up ready to build. I’m looking forward to what the next few days have in store for us as we strengthen this network.

In the comments, share what more we can do to reach more young people using the technology available around us.

A beautiful throwback to an unforgettable moment with @nickvujicic at the #BeyondTheCanvas launch.
Through his story of resilience, courage, and overcoming countless challenges, he reminded us that our uniqueness is what makes us valuable and powerful.
Rooted in his message of Love, Faith & Hope, we continue to believe that with the right platforms and opportunities, young people can confidently show the world who they are and what they are capable of.
That is why we are calling on talented young people ready to showcase their abilities, challenge stereotypes, and prove that disability is never a limitation to greatness through the Beyond the Canvas Initiative. ⠀

In Uganda’s young population, illicit alcohol is driving school dropouts, poor health, and increased vulnerability. With 65% of alcohol consumed being illicit and 80% of people unknowingly encountering it, this is a critical youth protection crisis. These products directly undermine national goals for quality education and public health.
Today, the Coalition Against Illicit Alcohol met with stakeholders to transition from Phase 1, which focused on awareness, to Phase 2. This new phase shifts toward coordinated, systemic action. By focusing on public education, community reinforcement, and tighter institutional enforcement, the coalition aims to close the regulatory gaps that allow harmful products to reach the public.
Now is the time for brands, organisations, and individuals to use their influence to protect young people. Collective action is essential to ensure that harmful products no longer slip through the cracks of the supply chain. You can play your part by sharing accurate information to #ProtectYourself and #ProtectYourCircle.

Today, we received continued support from the Reproductive and Child Health Department at the @MinofHealthUG.
Together, we are championing education and support for young girls in schools through menstrual hygiene awareness and best practices.
On top of menstrual hygiene, we also discussed mental health among young girls in school, who have a lot to deal with as their bodies grow and become more uncomfortable during periods.
