Another #spfbo review, and this time it's @MarkOfAScribe's Mordicax.
This wonderful wee mystery novel falls somewhere between Medieval Stranger Things, Pathologic, and a kind of Enid Blyton Famous Five YA adventure.
I really loved it.
What did it do so well? ππ§΅
Very excited for our first wee writing competition - winner gets their 500-1000 word story put in a box and some money.
Looking forward to reading what you lot come up with, share it far and wide!
Do you write short-short stories? Micro fiction? We're always looking for extra stories to include in our boxes! Up to 1,000 words, feel free to either DM us here or send them through our submissions page :)
We'll pay you for your feature if we find your story to be a good fit!
Tragedy, comedy, botany, birds, elegance, bawdiness, wit and ancient magical wisom. My review of Stars and Ravens by @MikaHunter10 and @DeerFrancis https://t.co/GLhzL1OWVO
An exceptionally well-executed blend of police procedural and shocking supernatural mystery. My review of the splendid Kingsrise by @AnneMAuthor https://t.co/1FRO8oIv2b
@Tallsquall Pitch your book poorly, share your cover, and tag another indie.
Getting the wrong end of the stick is bad; getting the wrong end of a reptile is worse.

What our panelists thought about Mordicax by @MarkOfAScribe
"Hooked by first sentence."
"It's engaging from the beginning to the end of the excerpt, with good flow and pace. It is very well written."
"Excellent."
@yourpaperquest 3-4k is my standard - shorter only if itβs a fast pivotal moment, and almost never longer (should be doable in a single sitting for a slowish reader like me)
