The #spycops inquiry has uncovered a dark history of political policing & systemic abuse. Many vested interests want it stopped before it looks at more recent events. Please sign this letter to the Home Office. https://t.co/qNBbspbKys
"it happened, I think, far too often and without any oversight or transparency with partners"
#JonBoutcher when asked about how #spycops arrests were seen as something that would enhance cover.
Another unit has yet to be examined: the National Public Order Intelligence Unit, covering undercover policing in social movements from 1999 to 2011 Survivors of their abuse have waited since 2015 for answers, only to have the HO threaten the Inquiry. This is not justice #spycops
@SteB777 Their entire MO is to keep the status quo (which will require becoming more authoritarian to deal with ontological insecurity ) which is a dead end. This seemed clear to me attending COP over 20 years ago - an event packed with trad economists pushing carbon trading grift
Have a butchers at this list of identifying characteristics of fascism and see which ones you can can recognize as happening now ... https://t.co/9O9wuRqnmv
Windrush survivors should receive the same free legal support given to victims of the Post Office & Infected Blood scandals, JUSTICE has found.
Our new report compares compensation schemes in detail – and finds no justification for treating Windrush claimants differently. (1/5)
One of the most dangerous things about the political and media mainstream, defining the current heatwaves as weather related, is the threat from dangerous climate change, is not just heatwaves and drought, but all sorts of extreme weather, damaging heavy rain, hurricanes, and AMOC collapse.
This weather related presentation, has resulted in very distorted thinking, like the solution to climate change is to build more reservoirs, more AC, ban disposable BBQs etc. All a total distraction. Of course, we should be building more reservoirs, buildings better able to cope with extreme heat, and disposable BBQs should never have been allowed to be sold. But these are not solutions to climate change, because many of the future impacts on us, won't just be heatwaves and drought.
This is the whole fallacy, of the adapt and not mitigate approach. We need to mitigate by rapidly phasing out fossil fuel burning.
Let me highlight the fallacy of the adapt and not mitigate approach. Take AMOC collapse. If it happens, it would turn Northern Europe into an Arctic hellhole, where agriculture might be difficult to impossible. But whilst AMOC collapse, could happen relatively soon, or it might not happen until far into the future. Exactly what would we be adapting to.
That is why the rapid phasing out of fossil fuel burning, is the only reliable way to protect us from climate change, along with changing our mode of farming. Likewise, only total system change, will prevent further damage to biodiversity and natural ecosystems. It is a conversation, we must have.
I am not an unhinged radical, those are the dangerous neoliberals trying to prolong business as usual. I am guided by scientific evidence, and not a partial view of science, but a holistic joined up view. To many would be commentators, trying to control the narrative, have a very partial view, totally ignoring most of the serious challenges we face.

Remember the name Clive Freeman, perfect prison record, 15 year tariff, in jail for 38 years for not “admitting” a crime he says he didn’t commit. After all the miscarriages of justice how can the parole board justify this?

Burnham is the repacking king and the media fall for this trick every single time!
Headline: "Burnham unveils £65m for drought-hit farmers"
Truth: No NEW money, just existing DEFRA money shifted around.
I've lost track of the number of times the media have Burnham get away with this. They need to be more accurate and not do Burnha's PR for him.

Cheshire Police made a film about their own investigation. They taught other forces how they handled the press. They won't release the decision log.
Nine years. £9.7m by 2023. Six documents on the public record.

I have been absent for a while from the writing scene but have just published this blog piece titled, "Letby Document Leak: Clear Evidence of Multiple CPS Disclosure Failings".
Documents leaked to me appear to indicate that information that would have helped Lucy Letby was withheld from her defence team by Mersey-Cheshire Crown Prosecution Service complex case officer Pascale Jones.
On a related matter, I want to say that I regret having been grumpy at times with Letby supporters over the last year or so. This has undermined my role as one of the key figures in the campaign to free Letby. If this has in any way hurt her campaign, I am truly sorry.

SHE REPORTED FRAUD AT ONE OF BRITAIN'S BIGGEST COMPANIES. NOBODY CARED. THEN IT ALL COLLAPSED.
Emma Mercer started her new finance job at Carillion in early 2017. Six weeks in, she found something that made her stomach drop.
The books were wrong. Costs were being hidden. Profits were being made to look bigger than they were. On projects worth hundreds of millions of pounds, the numbers simply did not match reality.
She told her boss. He brushed her off. She told the CEO. Same response. She went to HR because she had run out of people willing to listen.
A board member later described her in writing as a whistleblower who did not feel she was listened to.
She was right about everything. Every single thing.
But instead of launching an independent investigation, the board quietly scrapped the idea of outside scrutiny and handed the job back to @KPMG, the company's own auditors.
The same firm that had been signing off Carillion's accounts as healthy for 19 consecutive years. The same firm collecting £29 million in fees from the very company it was supposed to be independently checking.
MP Frank Field said it plainly in Parliament. KPMG were asked to mark their own homework.
They gave it top marks.
Eight months after Emma Mercer raised the alarm, Carillion collapsed. January 2018. The biggest compulsory liquidation in British history.
Here is what that actually meant for real people:
3,000 workers lost their jobs overnight. 28,500 people in Carillion's pension schemes saw their retirement savings cut. A £2.6 billion pension black hole left ordinary workers worse off for years.
Taxpayers handed over £150 million just to keep hospitals, schools and prisons running while the mess was cleaned up.
Meanwhile, Carillion's former Finance Director Richard Adam sold every single share he owned on the day the 2016 annual report was published. He walked away with £750,000. The shares were worthless months later.
It took the regulator five years to act. When it finally did, KPMG was fined £21 million, a record. Investigators also discovered KPMG staff had faked meeting minutes and altered spreadsheets to deceive the regulator during its inspection. The lead audit partner was banned from the profession for 10 years.
The fine was less than what KPMG earned from Carillion.
One woman told the truth in her first six weeks on the job. She was ignored, sidelined and described as a problem. The executives who ignored her kept their bonuses. The auditors who backed them up kept their fees. The workers who had nothing to do with any of it paid the price.
This is how British corporate accountability works.
