Stefanovic then countered “it might very well be that the Liberal party’s existential threat is Pauline Hanson”

Abbott “my job is to get rid of the worst Government in living memory”

“This Government is making everything worse, the emissions obsession, union affiliation, identity politics which is ruining our society”

“In the end this is a Government that doesn’t believe in Australia”

“The fact Albanese can’t go out into public without standing in front of 3 flags, the fact that he can’t get up to make a speech without acknowledging that some Australians are more special than others, shows that this guy is just not up to the job”

Hard to argue with him.

I have great respect for David Littleproud's service to my party, the Nationals. He led the charge to defeat the divisive Voice to Parliament. He put us in a winning position just a year ago. He helped turn the LNP's position around on net zero to a more common sense energy policy.

I know what a toll these fights and this service take on a person and their family.

It would have taken David a lot of guts to make the difficult decision to stand down as leader. David has lots more to offer our party and the nation. I look forward to working with him in the future.

Last year I ran for Leader of the Nationals, and I plan to run again now.

I have consistently been against the excessive government spending and crazy net zero policies that have left Australia with the highest inflation and interest rates in the developed world. I believe I have the best chance to help win the battle for an Australia first plan that can deliver a better life for all Australians.

I will put my case to my Nationals colleagues in the coming days and will respect whatever decision they make. I love the Nationals Party and I firmly believe that our pragmatic and grounded approach is what our country now needs.
