@flasportsbuzz Of course they implement it in a year, 2027, that has a weak draft that teams will not be tanking for. That way they can claim the NBA has fixed tanking.
@jratner7@flasportsbuzz Charlotte getting rid of 2027 protections and taking an unprotected 2028 or 2030 or 2032 first rounder. 2027 draft is bad they would be happy to do that. Charlotte has 2 firsts already in 2027 their own and Dallas’
@d__gon@byBrianGoins Charlotte should be giving up 2nd round picks to get a 2028 Unconditional 1st. They won’t but they have 2 2027 first round picks already and that draft is weak.
@LionWoulds@BradyHawk305 Because he makes $8.3 Million and the going rate (Niang $8.2 and Connaughton $9.4) for that price range recently is 2 second round picks.
Why would Detroit trade any Picks? If Duncan opted in the Heat would have had to waive him. Duncan would have received the $9.88 million from the Heat and signed for the $5.13 bi annual exception from Detroit which would have been $15 mill. in total. With a Sign and Trade Duncan got an extra $1.8 Mill. The Heat Saved $1.5 towards the tax and created at $16.8 Trade exception. His deal only has $2 mill. guaranteed next year.
