Been increasingly reminded of how fleeting life is these past few weeks. So if you’re reading this— take that leap, send that message, book that trip, try that new thing. And hug your loved ones a little tighter. You just never know if today will be your last.
They say that darkness can only be defeated by light. May this new year shine upon us brightly and remind us to open ourselves to the light every single day.
Wishing everyone an illuminating 2026!
12) Snow White - I grew up singing Hi-Ho so I wanted to like this film so badly, but no amount of nostalgia could save it from the abyss of dismal writing. The most adorable part of this movie was the little hedgehog waving goodbye at the end.

I consume a pretty big number of movies each year, and I’ve always wondered just how many exactly. I thought of doing this last year but was already a month and a half in, so that fell through. But this year, I’m committing to it!
Opinions are my own. Please be kind.

11) Novocaine - Jack Quaid’s Nathan Caine couldn’t feel any pain, but I certainly felt it with each broken limb and pulled fingernail — scenes that were both horrifying and satisfying at the same time. I walked out still feeling the cringe but with a wide grin.

10) Heart Eyes - This gory romp cheekily poked fun at the many iconic horromances that have come before it, but you gotta admit, this was one big bloody bag of fun! This madman skewered, smashed, and sliced his (or her) way to become one of my fave villains this year.

9) A Complete Unknown - Fans of Dylan are sure to be delighted by this retrospect of his rise to prominence as one of the most influential singer-songwriters of a generation. But non-fans are sure to also enjoy this simply as a joyous celebration of meaningful music.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
8) Captain America - With all due respect to Mr. Mackie who turned in a performance that was neither superfluous nor contrived, I believe the Cap lore should’ve ended with Steve Rogers. Sure, the action was there, but there was no spark to make me want to take a 2nd look.

7) Apocalypse Z - I’m a sucker for zombie flicks, so you could imagine the optimism with which I hit play on this, but I ended up with just a lot of blah. And with a cliffhanger ending, the movie begs the question “Do you want to see more of this?” Sadly, the answer is no.
⭐️⭐️
6) Rebel Ridge - A classic David and Goliath story set against the backdrop of rural America. Aaron Pierre makes for a terrific hero in his portrayal of quiet strength amidst seemingly insurmountable odds. Worth a watch if you enjoy rooting for the underdogs.
