Now trying out Mastodon to see how it goes over there, as I'm watching Twitter itself melt down into chaos... :-(
@tmbg There are 2 main things that differ between servers, as far as I can tell: 1. the team running the site and its TOS, and 2. its "local" posting stream. You'll want a reliable team/server with TOS/env you like, and it's also nice to end up with a local stream of interest to you.
Another busy day at #SVCC and I’m exhausted. Finished walking the dealers room, and attended three panels so far. Now I’m standing in the loooooong line for the Costume Contest. Hope I get in to see it!
One of the cool unique features of #SVCC is the mix of comics, pop culture media, and hard science. NASA is out in force, and I went to a panel featuring two NASA scientists and two Star Wars actors talking about robotics in reality vs Star Wars. 👍❤️
Turns out Friday is a light day at SVCC. Panels didn’t start til 5pm (cater to the tech workers who can’t take time off?), but that meant I could walk the dealers room without fighting a mob. Decent tradeoff I think!
Intermission? We’ve barely started, and we’re now on a 20 min break. Waiting for security to finish up, maybe? No Weird Al sighting yet - he’ll probably appear when we return from break.
Security is super slow (I’m in, but hundreds aren’t), so the orchestra is playing an extended overture of famous TV and movie themes. Nice! Up now: Mission Impossible. Bum bum bum bum!
In line to get through security st the Weird Al “Strings Attached” tour in Sacramento. Line is out the door and around the block! It’s moving relatively well, though: I should be inside in plenty of time.

As an aside, my Fitbit is very happy with me. Far and away a record week for my walking: I tripled my goal every day I was here. EVERY DAY! Man, am I feeling fit! 😅
And that closes out another #sdcc for me; man, things have changed in the few years I’ve been away. Over 150,000 people flooding the city and the convention center nowadays. It’s crazy, but it’s communal and fun. I’ll try to return next year!
It’s a treat and a privilege to be able to attend this, the 50th San Diego Comic-Con. For an event that’s been such a big part of my life for so long, I’m getting a touch emotional thinking about all the years I’ve been here, and all the friends I miss. #SDCC2019
It’s been a few years since I was last in San Diego, so I’d forgotten how there is way, way too much to do, way, way too little time, and way, way more exhausting effort just getting around at all. But it’s Comic-Con; I’ll definitely try to come back! #SDCC19
