@thinkdefence Do you mean like TOW, MILAN, JAVELIN, etc ATGM? Packing density too low and just a gimmick? π€
Can you name a more effective or efficient method of putting .5 kg of HE into a trench, fighting position, bunker, or window on the reverse slope or around the corner of a street?.
@thinkdefence The same way British Armoured Divisions coped in WW2? Having served in 5 different Bradley IFV mech infantry battalions throughout my career as an Infantry officer...an IFV is essentially just another tank with some different capabilities from an MBT.
@thinkdefence As full-tracked SPH are out of vogue, I imagine most don't realize the limitations wheeled SPH have in getting to off-road firing positions. Roadside drainage ditches and muddy fields do impose tactical restrictions.
@ReassessHistory The "capital tank" or MBT can be an elusive term....just as classing tanks by size/weight. There is an argument today that Bradleys/CV90s are more of an MBT than Abrams/Leo2/etc.
@ronkainen7k15 The requirement was never to make a "light tank" or a "medium". The only weight requirement I was aware of (and I work in that space) was more deployable than Abrams....and the platform was developed around the 105mm. I do feel, however, the air drop requirement played too much.
"4", also known as "Foreigner 4", the fourth studio album by Foreigner was released today in 1981. The album feat the hit singles including "Urgent", "Waiting for a Girl Like You" and "Juke Box Hero". #80s
If we strip land forces down to nothing and reimagine them as military services purpose-built for the realities of modern warfare, what might it look like? https://t.co/7K55kGuCZr
@thekaylahaas Problem is....very little appetite to make hard decisions on competing capabilities loaded on the individual Soldier, all of which entail a time, weight, space burden.
@harbison_r@realDonaldTrump@elonmusk The IDF has a Search and Rescue Brigade in their Home Command. That would be a very useful capability in both the RA, USAR, and ARNG.
