Genuine question, why do top players make out they've never heard of their opponents if they're ranked low? I'm a reasonable tennis fan but even I've heard of most top300 players. Is it mental tactics?

If they didn't close the roof everyone would say 'should have closed the roof, left it open to favour Roger' ...guy can't win.
