قال الحافظُ الخطيبُ في ترجمةِ الكرابيسيّ:"حَديثُ الكرابيسيّ يَعِزُّ جِدّاً-أي وجُودُه-وذلك أنّ أحمدَ بنَ حنبلٍ كانَ يتَكلّمُ فيه،بسببِ مَسألةِ الّلفْظِ،وكان هُو أيضاً يتكلّمُ في أحمدَ؛فتَجنّبَ النّاسُ الأخذَ عنه لهذا السّببِ...-ثمّ أسنَدَ عن-جَعفرٍ الطّيالسيِّ قال:قالَ يحيى بنُ مَعينٍ،وقيلَ له:إنّ حُسيناً الكرابيسيَّ يَتكلّمُ في أحمدَ بنِ حنبلٍ،قالَ:ما أَحْوجَه أنْ يُضْربَ"(تأريخ بغداد)(٨/ ٦٤).
وأسندَ أيضاً أنّ ابنَ معينٍ قال:"ومَنْ حُسين الكرابيسيّ؟لعنَهُ اللهُ،إنّما يَتكلّمُ في النّاسِ أشْكالُهُم،يَنْطلُ حُسينٌ،ويَرتفِعُ أحمدُ.
قال جعفرٌ: يَنطلُ يعني:يَنزلُ..."

قال شيخ الإسلام رحمه الله:

فإن الذي ابتدع الرفض كان يهوديًا أظهر الإسلام نفاقًا ودسَّ إلى الجهال دسائس يقدح بها في أصل الإيمان، ولهذا كان الرفض أعظم أبواب النفاق والزندقة.

أنا آخركم عهدا بعمر، دخلت عليه ورأسه في حجر ابنه عبدالله فقال عمر:
ضع خدي بالأرض.
قال: فهل فخذي والأرض إلا سواء؟
قال: ضع خدي بالأرض لا أم لك!
ثم قال:
ويلي وويل أمي إن لم يغفر الله لي، حتى فاضت نفسه.
