Womb envy 🧵
Everyone’s heard of Freud’s concept of penis-envy, yet it’s womb-envy that shaped modern society in quite a way.
Our western patriarchal society is largely based on the foundations of Christianity, which, in turn, based many of its stories off Sumerian ones.
Patriarchy 101: Enslave your women, make them crank out babies. Use those greater numbers to conquer your neighbors by killing their men, then rape and enslave their women to make more babies. Rinse and repeat, for 5000 years.
If patriarchy were “natural”, why would it need religion, law, and violence to enforce? The love of women holds civilization together. We are under threat from the seething violence of men who would rather burn it down than adapt to their changing role.

So they resort to claiming our power threatens civilization. No. The love of women holds society together. Women have ruled and will rule again. The threat to civilization is the seething violence of men who would rather burn it all down than adapt to their changing role.
@NullifidianMom A small subset of privileged people in the west don't get to erase identities because they find them inconvenient and offensive. If you and others want to be referred to as that, that's okay and I'll respect that but at the same time you don't get to erase identities.
@NullifidianMom Really? You truly think that the 3.9 billion women on planet earth want to be referred to as "person with a uterus" or have their daughters be referred to as a person with a uterus. We are more than our biological ability to give birth or have periods. 1/2
@NullifidianMom Agree 100% but "pregnant people?" If you want to be inclusive say women and pregnant people. Most women still want to be referred to as women and not just "pregnant person/people."
@lamsyx@gabariskufilan_ The hijab is often used as a tool of oppression. We also should criticize the theological bases for wearing the hijab because it is sexist.
@lamsyx@gabariskufilan_ Hijab isn't a choice for millions of women and that should be discussed. Women fear being jailed, assaulted, abused, and murdered for deciding not to wear the hijab. In the Islamic world we fear even bringing this conversation because it can have severe consequences.
