@miraoreck @fabulavancouver I grew up one building over at Alma-Blackwell on Adanac, Vancouvers most recent non-profit demoviction site! 46 great units will be torn down and low income/single moms raising family’s will be displaced and forced to play huge rent increases. A very sad state of affairs!
Thank you @vancolour for having me back on the show to talk about improving how B.C schools teach Black history!
Be sure to tune in Sunday, folks! #StrongerTogether
This is VANCOLOUR

👉 Why are families concerned about the Government of B.C.’s announced changes to the funding model for kids on the autism spectrum?
👉 How should B.C. schools teach Black history?
👉 Let’s take a MOment!
Anti-Black racism continues to be perpetuated throughout #bced.
Teachers and administrators continue to be I’ll equipped to navigate and deliver anti-racist pedagogy.
It’s time for #CanadianBlackHistory in schools and Antiracism training for teachers!

@CraigCameronWV@vancolour Mo made a comment about lawyers defending private property. You said he makes “stupid remarks”. I’m not going to debate you about it, but the comments don’t seem equal to me.
Whatever you think of Mo or other people, I hope you hold your self to a higher standard in the future
@CraigCameronWV@vancolour Craig, that’s just rude and simply not true.
Mo clearly has takes people appreciate (he’s literally a self made media sensation). If you aren’t a fan just move on. No need to make defamatory comments.

Thank you @routledge_janet for amplifying the voices of your constituents and championing the need for #CanadianBlackHistory to be taught year round! I’m hopeful we’ll get there soon! #StrongerTogether
In Pt One of my @BCLegislature statement I talk about what #BlackHistoryMonth means to my Black friends. 👇In Pt 2 I talk about what it means to me as an ally. https://t.co/OYIJR3xHV8
@kennedystewart @CityofVancouver@SquamishNation People who are targeted and discriminated against are not afforded protection by the state. As such they are forced to take action that may break rules, laws, or expectations of the most privileged class.
The community did what it had to do. #Solidarity
@gabrielledrolet You do physical testing and if you meet the national standard they bring you to the track and start you from the bottom of the track. I never thought I’d be sliding head first down a sheet of ice on a lunch tray until I was!
@Crof @riarenouf @CityNewsVAN Hi Crawford, I would too! I’ve had the pleasure of reading the most recent edition and it’s great! Thank you so much for your valuable contribution to sustaining BC’s Black history! #StrongerTogether
Thank you @riarenouf and @CityNewsVAN for covering this important story!
Black British columbians deserve to learn in safe environments where they’re reflected AND respected in the curricular content.
It time to teach all British Columbians Black history IS Canadian history!
Grassroots advocates in Vancouver say they're excited for Monday's meeting with B.C.'s Education Minister. @RiaRenouf reports they'll be talking about how best to capture Canada's Black History in schools.
ATTENTION:
On Monday Feb 14 myself and a group of stakeholders from BC’s Black community will be meeting with BC’s Minister of Education @JM_Whiteside to discuss the path forward to introducing Canadian Black history (and more) across the province!
A thread on how we got here
