Phantom Blade Zero’s launch trailer has already hit 5 million views on YouTube, compared to 2.9 million for Black Myth: Wukong.
I don’t expect it to sell as well as Black Myth: Wukong (and it doesn’t have to), but I’m pretty sure the player numbers will be massive.
After four hours, Phantom Blade Zero just became Polygon's most anticipated action game of 2026
"Trading blows with Phantom Blade Zero's bosses was certainly the highlight of my time with S-Game's ambitious martial arts game." - Polygon
Here's everything Polygon shared:
A playable kung fu movie
Director Soulframe Liang's goal was to "create a playable kung fu movie". A team of around 15 to 20 stunt performers worked on the action, with Kenji Tanigaki as action director
"Every animation has an over-the-top flourish".
The bosses
The Hunt grows extra arms mid-fight, essentially becoming "a sickle-wielding General Grievous".
In the Lion Dance fight, you grab a lion head from the boss's summoned enemies, shoot fire with it and leap between raised poles. "It was immensely exciting". An ally can join you in some boss fights
Unlike Souls games, there are checkpoints between boss phases.
Good to know
Over 30 weapons, mostly linear, with some light Metroidvania elements. Three difficulty options: easy, medium and hard. Drop to easy mid-game and you can't go back up.
Phantom Blade Zero launches October 29 on PS5 and PC.

XBOX’s @asha_shar could do the coolest move ever and buy the rights to Mass Effect and reassemble BioWare🚀
After Kojima and saving PHYSINT, this would be a very smart move, especially that they have the resources, and capitalizing on the whole industry and player base’s love and heartbreak over BioWare, bringing them back and restoring development of Mass Effect Universe would be TOTALLY epic🥹
Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney is under fire over an old post he argues that studios going that don’t make money is “economically realistic” and “deserve the axe”🚀
He said this in reference to Looking Glass studio closing, and followed that “a studio that goes bankrupt deserves to be shut down” then went on to say there is room for niche studios as long as they manage to turn in profit, but studios with large overhead that aren’t profitable shouldn’t remain open.
His concluded that “The dinosaurs die, but the way is cleared for cooler life forms to evolve.”
This led to major backlash, especially in an industry where many layoffs and studio shut down occurred, not necessarily due to low profits, but excessive greed and insurmountable expectations from execs that treat gaming as purely a business, devoid of any passion😡
I day since Final Fantasy Resonance launched

The Father of PlayStation, Ken Kutaragi stated that there’s a “very real danger” for the end of the age of consoles, stated that AI and high prices could be the reason for their demise🚀
He explained that gaming PCs now cost “the price of a car” while AI like Google Gemini runs externally on service, without needing an expensive local hardware.

This further echoes fears and worries we all had over the future of gaming, when Take Two CEO Strauss Zelnick speculated that gaming streaming could be mainstream in just 3 years, due to rising hardware prices.
And it further emphasis the grave danger that Sony’s all-digital future poses and promotes for gaming, which takes away ownership and makes you forever reliant on a rental service or a subscription where you keep paying monthly/annually funding roughly a cookie cutter mass production of games.
NO DISC 💿 NO BUY
The entire art team behind Phantom Blade Zero is just freaking awesome.
Renowned Chinese artists, the former Dark Souls art director, and even young graduates of the Central Academy of Fine Arts contributing to the game's map design. PEAK coming.
