By the way, for what it’s worth, no one anywhere in Ukraine among Russian speakers, including where I grew up in Donbas, not even the most diehard consumers of Kremlin TV propaganda, ever considered themselves “ethnic Russians” in the same sense as people in Moscow, Siberia, or Vladivostok.

They always saw themselves as ethnic Ukrainians, with Ukrainian surnames, living in Ukraine, but speaking mostly or exclusively Russian, while still knowing Ukrainian and practicing distinctly Ukrainian traditions.

Even for the most hardline supporters of closer ties with Moscow (who, in reality, naively believed Putin would come and shower them with oil money), the difference between Ukrainians and Russians was always obvious. On Donbas, ethnicity simply was never the issue.

It was only after the war began in 2014 that Russia’s Ministry of Truth suddenly declared that we had “always been Russians,” and its paid useful morons are still, with a straight face, trying to pretend that night is day.

Today, the Russians once again "defeated" purely civilian targets—ordinary public buses in Odesa, ordinary residential buildings in Zaporizhzhia, an ordinary hospital in the Kharkiv region—said Zelenskyy regarding the attacks on Ukraine.

And the whole world sees this—it sees that Ukraine needs more air defense and greater protection for human lives, and that the Russian leadership has lost its mind due to the war and is refusing, in a completely irrational manner, to end the conflict.

Meet russia's torturer in a white coat: Vyacheslav Mykolaiovych Cherdantsev.

He didn't heal. He tortured.

A 48-year-old prison "doctor" at Penal Colony No. 7 in Pakino, he humiliated and abused Ukrainian POWs under the guise of medical examinations.

He drew penises on prisoners' faces with green antiseptic, forced naked men to hug, dance, and simulate sex during so-called medical examinations. He denied treatment for scabies, infected wounds, and broken bones. He beat them, humiliated them, and threatened them with rape.

Dozens of Ukrainian survivors who endured this hell independently identified him. Many were left psychologically shattered. One 23-year-old Ukrainian Marine died by suicide after enduring the abuse.

This is not a doctor. This is a sadist. This is a war criminal.

The investigative journalists at Skhemy identified him and revealed his face.

Cherdantsev belongs in the dock, alongside the entire system that enabled and protected him.
