Paul Scholes on Erling Haaland’s World Cup masterclass for Norway vs Iraq:
🗣️ “This is unbelievable, absolutely unbelievable from Erling Haaland on his first ever World Cup appearance.”
“Two goals today, and now 22 goals in his last 11 games for Norway in major competitions… those numbers are just not normal at any level of football.”
“This is what people don’t understand about top strikers he doesn’t need ten chances, he doesn’t need momentum, he just needs one moment and the game is basically finished.”
“Iraq have worked hard, they’ve tried to compete, but once Haaland gets into that rhythm, it becomes almost impossible to contain him.”
“For a player to arrive at his first World Cup and produce this kind of performance straight away tells you everything about his mentality and his quality.”
“I’ve seen great goalscorers, but what he is doing right now is on a completely different level to most of them.”
“And the scary part for everyone else in this tournament is… he’s only just started.”
Haaland doesn't exalt himself above others. Proper humble character. When asked about his national team coach (Ståle Solbakken) calling him the best goalscorer in the world, he gave props to Mbappé and Harry Kane instead. No ego, just respect.
YNWA ❤️

🚨🚨| Xabi Alonso had a 71.4% win rate as manager of Real Madrid. That’s higher than Zinedine Zidane managed in both of his tenures (69.8% and 60.5%), more than Ancelotti 68.8%, and only 0.5% behind José Mourinho’s galactico era (71.9%).
