Today marks Nakba Day, an annual day of remembrance to commemorate the expulsion of more than 700,000 Palestinians between 1947 and 1949 during the creation of the State of Israel and the year that followed.
Inea is a New Yorker and a Nakba survivor. She shared her story with us — one of home, tradition and memory over generations.
🟥 When President Xi of China said today that the international situation is turbulent, and wondered out loud whether China and the US could overcome the “Thucydides Trap” and create a new paradigm to meet global challenges together, Trump nodded like a dysfunctional bobble head, clearly CLUELESS about the term being referenced. 🤷🏻♂️
Donald probably thought it was a Greek dessert... 🙄
The Thucydides Trap describes the DANGEROUS structural tension that occurs when a rapidly rising power (in this case China) threatens to displace an established ruling power (the USA), typically leading to heightened rivalry and risk of conflict.
It was a jab, and a warning. 🥊
Nobody respects the USA anymore.
Trump's failure and damage to America's influence, is dangerously immense.
There is no rise in anti-Semitism. There is a rise in the number of people who are very angry at what Israel is doing. Your inability to separate the two is equally problematic.
I honestly don’t care if I lose my job or end up in prison for saying this:
This is terrorism. THIS - Not the resistance to it.
And every single politician in the world still defending or supporting this terror, and I am looking at the depraved ghouls in charge of the EU and, in particular, German politicians, who sit every night in one of the vomit-inducing “Stammtisch”-style talk shows deflecting or defending these atrocities, should be dragged before the ICC to answer for aiding and abetting these horrendous crimes against humanity.
Go ahead, take my citizenship away and deport me if you want -if opposing your crimes is not compatible with your values.
But you won’t be able to escape the consequences of your actions forever.
Because what you never mention in your little talk shows for your local audiences, is the fact that the world has come to look at you as what you are: a rogue state with no regard for international or humanitarian laws -hated by virtually every country in the world for consistently being on the wrong side of history.
The level of complicity of the @BBC in the ethnic cleansing of southern Lebanon is shocking. I am listening to their Jerusalem correspondent report that the ‘IDF are striking Hezbollah targets’ while I’m on the ground in the middle of it watching men, women and children being killed on a daily basis. My colleagues are being executed. Paramedics are being systematically murdered. All of this is happening in plain sight and the BBC correspondent here in Lebanon knows it.
May you all be put on trial for your deadly propaganda when the time comes. Shame on all of you, especially those on the ground who are too cowardly to speak out.
Israel has killed more journalists than any other nation in history.
More than the total number of journalists killed during the U.S. Civil War, WWI, WWII, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War combined.

War criminal wanted by the ICC, who has bombed and murdered innocent children in six different countries in one year, accuses accuses Europe of moral failings because it isn't racist and Islamophobic enough for his tastes...
Today, for the third time in my mother's life and for the second in my own life, we lost a home due to it being bombed by the Israeli army.
This home was in a building constructed by my uncle, the Lebanese historian Ahmad Beydoun, after my family was able to return to our ancestral hometown, Bint Jbeil, in the year 2000 when Israel ended its decades-long occupation there, during which they destroyed my mother's childhood home. In 2006, they would destroy both her and my home in Beirut, rendering us both temporarily homeless.
Uncle Ahmad's building was a costly joint effort financed by himself as well as my mother and his other siblings. Each owned an apartment in the building, which also housed medical practices, a baby toys shop (owned and run by my cousin Jamal) and a branch for Bank Audi.
Upon hearing this news, Uncle Ahmad wrote: "in our hearts, this is the least of our losses." We can all only be thankful that our family is unharmed: when I told this story to a distant cousin, she replied that her friend had lost both her mother and father in Israel's bombing of Beirut two days ago, which killed more than 300 civilians in the space of ten minutes.
For reasons that are difficult to understand, the Israeli army posted a video of their crime, which I share here.
Make no mistake: destroying world-class universities, like the US just did with Sharif University of Technology in Tehran, isn't just an attack on Iran but it's literally an attack on all of us, on all of humanity.
It's not Iran that "won" when Maryam Mirzakhani made her discoveries that won her a Fields Medal: it's all of mathematics, and everything mathematics is used for. Human progress won, technology won, we all won.
It's the same type of stuff the Mongols did during the sack of Baghdad and their destruction of the House of Wisdom: we ALL lost something irreplaceable back then, entire fields of human knowledge set back.
That's what bombing a university does. It doesn't just destroy buildings. It destroys us, all of us.
Notice how quickly all that bullshit about liberating Iranians disappeared, and now it's all about bombing them back to the Stone Age, destroying their bridges and universities, poisoning their air and water, and stealing their oil.
Israel is now starving ONE MILLION PEOPLE in Gaza while spraying ONE MILLION PEOPLE in Lebanon with banned phosphorus and relentlessly bombing MILLIONS of PEOPLE in Iran violating international law with absolutely no consequences This's what real threat to world peace looks like
In time it will not be called the Israel-Gaza war
Nor will people refer to Israel’s right to defend itself
It will be recorded in history and remembered as The Palestinian Genocide
It will be seen as another period when the world allowed evil to dominate humanity
Everyone should read this letter that 99 American healthcare workers who volunteered in Gaza wrote to Biden, since, as they write they're "among the only neutral observers who have been permitted to enter the Gaza Strip since October 7": https://t.co/8kBUKebNT3
You cannot read their letter and not conclude a genocide is indeed taking place, their observations are beyond horrifying:
- They estimate, with evidence, that "the death toll is already greater than 118,908, an astonishing 5.4% of Gaza’s population"
- They write that "with only marginal exceptions, everyone [their emphasis, not mine] in Gaza is sick, injured, or both. This includes every national aid worker, every international volunteer, and probably every Israeli hostage: every man, woman, and child."
- Children routinely shot in the head or chest: "Every one of us who worked in an emergency, intensive care, or surgical setting treated pre-teen children who were shot in the head or chest on a regular or even a daily basis. It is impossible that such widespread shooting of young children throughout Gaza, sustained over the course of an entire year is accidental or unknown to the highest Israeli civilian and military authorities."
- Healthcare system systematically targeted: "Israel has destroyed more than half of Gaza’s healthcare resources and has killed nearly one thousand Palestinian healthcare workers... We quickly learned that our Palestinian healthcare colleagues were among the most traumatized people in Gaza, and perhaps in the entire world... All were acutely aware that their work as healthcare providers had marked them as targets for Israel. This makes a mockery of the protected status hospitals and healthcare providers are granted under the oldest and most widely accepted provisions of International Humanitarian Law." And they stress that despite spending "a combined 254 weeks inside Gaza’s largest hospitals and clinics, [...] not once did any of us see any type of Palestinian militant activity in any of Gaza’s hospitals or other healthcare facilities."
@RnaudBertrand It's not Europe that is on the side of war, they are not the agressor. Russia is. Europe is trying to defend itself from the tsarist russian holigan who is now threatening of a nuclear war.
