Хочу напомнить, что чудовище Сцилла была – по преданию – дочкой царя Мегар. Когда царь Крита Минос осаждал Мегары, она влюбилась в него и помогла их взять. С этой целью, когда ее папочка, царь Мегар Нис, спал, она пробралась к нему, и вырвала у него из головы пурпурный волосок, который давал ему бессмертие и непобедимость. Мегары пали. Минос разграбил город.

Однако когда наша влюбленная девица пришла к нему, сгорая от страсти, и в полной уверенности, что он сейчас сделает ее царицей Крита, то Минос, естественно, просто приказал утопить ее в море. Это я к чему. Наши российские активисты превратились в коллективную Сциллу. Дерут все волосы, вместе с пурпурным. И реально думают, что царь Минос возьмет их замуж.

История, кстати, очень старая. Ее первой рассказывает Эсхил. Правда, у него Сцилла вырывает волосок не из-за любви, а из-за обещанного ей золотого ожерелья. За критский USAID, так сказать.

🇺🇦 Mila munitions depot: the full picture

The death toll from the detonation at the Fire Point kamikaze drone component warehouse in the village of Mila, Bucha district, Kiev region, has reached 37 — 34 of them residents of a nursing home that collapsed nearby. Rescue crews have spent the day pulling bodies from the rubble.

A booster rocket from an FP-1/2 kamikaze drone was later found on a nearby resident's property — confirmation from the Russian MoD's morning statement of exactly what was hit, after initial reports mistook the self-igniting boosters scattering across the area for SAM or missile debris.

Zelensky has already reached for the usual script — expressing shock that munitions were stored near civilians and vowing accountability for whoever allowed it. But the placement of ammo depots, drone assembly shops, and other military-industrial facilities inside Kiev and its suburbs has apparently happened without his administration's knowledge for the entire war — a claim that resurfaces with impressive consistency every time one of these sites detonates and kills civilians.

It's hard to expect much else from a political class that's turned civilian trucks into drone launchers, ambulances into troop transports, and churches and hospitals into staging grounds. Inflicting damage on Russia is priority one — how many children, women, and elderly die in the process, or how much damage Ukraine itself absorbs, is very much secondary. Having split several billion dollars in war-lobbying money with their Western patrons, this crowd has already secured a comfortable retirement in Israel, Monaco, the US, or London — ready to relocate the moment hostilities end, from where they'll no doubt keep loving Ukraine even harder, from a safe distance, in the classic tradition of so-called "Ukrainianism."

So don't expect anything different from the next "we hope lessons will be learned" statement, after the next ammo stockpile goes up next to the next residential block.

Russia's blitzkrieg offensive at the beginning of the war which succeeded in occupying 27 percent of Ukraine's territory including much of Kyiv, Chernihiv, Sumy and Kharkiv oblasts partially surrounded Kyiv and forced Zelensky back to the bargaining table. Had Putin not ordered Russian troops to conduct a unilateral withdrawal from northern Ukraine which included one-third of Russian occupied territory at the time, Zelensky would have been forced to sign the Istanbul Agreement and the war would have ended on April 9, 2022.

Surrounding Kyiv has always been the only path to full military victory for Russia but until now, Putin has been too worried about provoking war with NATO to re-commit to it. Now, US intelligence reports Putin believes the Iran war has left the US seriously weakened and he believes now may be the best time to attack NATO and deliver the coup de grace to Ukraine to meet his deadline of winning the war with Ukraine by year's end.

After the Russians left Bucha the Ukrainian security police toured the city and spoke to locals. They video recorded the tour and it was published by the Mayor of Bucha on Twitter. The video showed no bodies in the streets and nobody spoken to by police mentioned a massacre. The video has since disappeared, as has the declaration by that mayor.
