Today, as every year on June 22, there will be a lot of grandstanding in Russia about World War II, about one of its bloodiest chapters – Nazi Germany’s invasion of the Soviet Union. A time that for Ukraine has always been a reminder of the importance of peace and of paying tribute to millions of innocent victims of World War II. This was the very period in the 20th century that should have forever changed the way every state and the world as a whole view human life – establishing life itself as the true highest value. There would have been no world wars if the leaders of that era had been guided by the value of human life rather than their imperial delusions.
Yet today, Russia began this day not by honoring those who fell in World War II, and not with signals that could help bring the current war – Russia’s war against Ukraine – closer to an end. Instead, it began with more completely unjustifiable killings. In the Sumy region, a Russian drone killed a child, a grandmother, and a man. The mother and two other children from the same family were wounded. Their home was destroyed. An ordinary home – not a military target whatsoever. In Zaporizhzhia, two people were killed overnight by Russian strikes, and seven others were injured. Tragically, the Odesa region has also seen lives lost. Strikes were carried out against the Kherson, Donetsk, and Kharkiv regions. Once again, Russia targeted energy infrastructure in the Chernihiv region.
This Russian war has no justifiable cause. Putin was driven by exactly the same motives as the aggressors who came before him. He shows the same contempt for human life. He is just as delusional about this absurd “empire” of his that nobody needs. This war must be brought to an end. It has been taking people's lives for nearly five years now. This full-scale war has already lasted longer than World War I. Perhaps Russia wants to wait until it has lasted longer than World War II as well. But the world certainly does not want that, and it certainly has the power to prevent it. There must be pressure on Putin, pressure on Russia, so that all of this ends in a dignified peace and with real, guaranteed protection for human life. Ukraine has put forward every proposal needed for diplomacy. Through our collective pressure on the aggressor, we must bring Russia to a point where it has no option left but diplomacy and ending the war. Thank you to everyone helping us defend Ukraine. Thank you to everyone helping us protect human life.
In recent years, we have all learned that Russians are evidently the most repulsive people on the planet.
When you are already down on the ground, they kick you in the stomach. If you fight back, they start whining and accusing you.
After today's Ukrainian attacks on Moscow, the Russians will scream: "Ukrainian terrorists, murderers..."
Stop.
Russia started this war, which violates international law. For over four years, Russians have destroyed Ukrainian cities, killed, raped, and abducted people.
And the entire Russian population was fine with that.
Have no pity for the Russians in Moscow—they must end the war.
There’s no doubt that Putin fears the return of his army home. That is why he is so afraid of the war ending without victory. And there will be no victory. He is physically afraid of his own army. That is why, if there is no ceasefire backed by specific security guarantees, he will return to war. And this time, others may be the ones under attack.
Today, Ukraine is de facto the second army of NATO – one that is not inferior to the second army in the world. And that is why NATO needs us – specifically us – de jure. This is already a fact recognized by all leaders. Putin will remain in the Kremlin until his death, and he has one goal: the restoration of the Soviet Union. Without Ukraine, this is impossible, and that is why things are so difficult for us.
From answers to journalists’ questions. (3/3)
And for those suffering from very selective amnesia, let me remind you once again that Russia has been carrying out regular and systematic mass missile and drone strikes against Ukraine — including power plants and heating infrastructure, hospitals, schools, apartment buildings, supermarkets, as well as historical landmarks and national heritage sites — since 4 a.m. on February 24, the very first day of its full-scale invasion.
At that point Ukraine could not even dream of striking any targets inside Russia, let alone Moscow, and remained practically powerless to do so for many months, if not years, of the war.
So you can go to hell with your “now Russia will strike back.”
"Putin's goal was for Ukraine to surrender and then extend his expansionist ambitions further. But that plan failed.
I'm convinced that Ukraine will win, recover even stronger, more prosperous. The future of Ukraine is the future of peace and freedom
Ukraine is not and will not be alone.."
- Giorgia Meloni
Prime Minister of Italy
Wow..🫡
🇩🇪 Merz: Ukraine is not only defending its citizens, not only its freedom — it is also defending our freedom. Ukraine is defending freedom and security throughout Europe, because Ukraine belongs to Europe and, in the longer term, belongs to the European Union.
We continue to apply Ukrainian long-range sanctions against Russian military facilities and the oil industry. In particular, last night Ukrainian FP-5 Flamingos struck a military plant in Cheboksary that supplies the occupier’s army with components for drones and missiles. I thank the Armed Forces of Ukraine for their precision! The Kuibyshev oil refinery in the Samara region was also hit last night. The distance from the frontline is more than 900 kilometers. I am grateful to the warriors of the Special Operations Forces, the Unmanned Systems Forces, and the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine. The entirely just responses of the Security Service of Ukraine also reached two oil infrastructure facilities in the Vladimir region, at a distance of 700 kilometers. I thank everyone who fights and works for Ukraine!
Happy March 2026!
The hardest winter of our war in Ukraine has officially been over for a whole ten minutes now (at least the calendar winter).
And for the fourth time in this war, under a deluge of hundreds of missiles and drones aimed at our electricity and heat, Putin has once again failed to break Ukraine.
Let there be warmth!
This is In Ukraine. This is what President Putin is doing to Ukraine, a sovereign, independent country that posed no military threat to Russia whatsoever. This is not ok. I have the utmost respect for the UAF, who are doing a superb job of defending their country. They deserve our support.
When Ukraine refuses to outright surrender to genocidal invaders, he is hysterical about it for several weeks-yelling and blaming us.
When Russia refuses to stop invading a neighboring country and murdering people there constantly, it’s called “a very good meeting.”
Being a Ukrainian online is challenging. This is about the most horrific, soul-destroying experiences one can imagine.
When a Ukrainian chooses to go online to say they are terrified, hurting, or grieving, they not only open up to strangers, but also to enemies. Social media offers no shield from those who enter our comments to tell us, with full conviction, that the child just blasted to pieces actually deserved it.
I say this not for pity. I say this so you understand the sheer volume of bile we wade through just to get the word out, and to know that reading all of that can make even moderately normal comments feel aggressive.
Every time a Ukrainian person online masters enough courage to open up, please show support, because enemies will show no mercy.
Taking advantage of the moment, I would like to remind you that next month Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine will match the entire Soviet–Nazi war on the Eastern Front in total duration.
Within almost exactly the same span of time unfolded the catastrophe of 1941, the Battle of Moscow, Stalingrad, Kursk, Kharkiv, Kyiv, the conquest of Eastern and Central Europe, and the capture of Berlin.
After the same amount of time -- having committed his entire conventional military power against Ukraine — Putin is still bogged down on the outskirts of Pokrovsk, barely 40 kilometers from the original front line that existed before the full-scale invasion.
A detailed briefing by the Ukrainian delegation following all their meetings in the United States. We discussed in person the matters that cannot be addressed over the phone.
Rustem Umerov and participants in the negotiations in Florida reported on the key points raised by the American side in the dialogue. The work was based on the Geneva document, and that document has been refined.
I am grateful to Andrii Hnatov for a very substantive briefing for our American partners on the actual situation at the front. With the participation of intelligence representatives, there was a discussion with the American side on the feasibility of various steps on the front line and the challenges of ensuring protection from Russian strikes and preventing violations of agreements in the event of a ceasefire.
Our diplomats are actively working with all partners to ensure that European countries and other participants in the Coalition of the Willing are meaningfully involved in developing decisions. I informed the team about my conversations with European leaders and with Steve Witkoff, which took place earlier in Paris. We note that the Russians have already launched new disinformation campaigns in view of preparations for their upcoming meetings with the American side.
I gave instructions to continue the most constructive work possible with President Trump’s team, as well as with our European partners. Ukrainian intelligence will provide partners with all available information regarding Russia’s true intentions and its attempts to use diplomatic engagement as cover to weaken sanctions and block important collective European decisions.
Ukraine approaches all diplomatic efforts with utmost seriousness – we are committed to achieving a real peace and guaranteed security. This is exactly the level of commitment that must be compelled from the Russian side, and this task can be accomplished only together with our partners. The Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine will maintain continuous contact with the United States to determine the schedule of future meetings.
🇺🇸🤡 BREAKING: Rubio Announces Bold New Strategy, Says Ukraine Must Reach Peace Before Receiving the One Thing That Would Help Them Reach Peace
Politico reports that Marco Rubio has informed European allies that the United States wants a peace deal before offering any security guarantee to Ukraine, a plan experts describe as “giving someone a parachute after they hit the ground.”
Diplomats were left blinking in confusion as Rubio explained that Ukraine must first negotiate a peace agreement without the security guarantee that is literally the entire reason anyone signs a security guarantee.
One European official summarized the logic: “He wants Ukraine to secure peace without protection so that America can offer protection once peace is already secured. It is revolutionary in the sense that it has never made sense anywhere on Earth.”
Analysts say Rubio’s approach mirrors a popular health policy in which patients receive medicine only after they have fully cured themselves.
The Kremlin has reportedly welcomed the idea, calling it “a refreshing return to common sense diplomacy.”
Putin wants land he can’t take militarily. Russia is stuck after sustaining 1.1 million casualties. Witkoff’s ‘peace plan’ only helps that agenda by pressuring Ukraine to cede territory — intentionally or not, that’s exactly what the administration is doing. And with no real security guarantees on offer, why would anyone sign it?
🔸Good day Minister @MthuliNcube,
1. Why are you introducing a tax for withdrawing cash when bank charges are already so extortionate? Can you not see that you’re going to disincentivise use of the banking system? In normal countries, banking money earns you interest - in Zimbabwe, why do you punish people for using formal banking channels?
2. To make matters worse, we know that fat cats and political elites don’t bank money at all. Do you not see them dishing out piles of cash everyday? Can you not see that you’re creating a haven for money laundering?
What a mess.
We need new leaders.🇿🇼
At the end of the week, our team – together with American representatives – will continue to translate the points we secured in Geneva into a form that puts us on the path to peace and security guarantees.
There will be a meeting of delegations, and the Ukrainian delegation will be well-prepared and focused on substantive work.
We remain in close contact with the American side and our European friends. I am also briefing our partners in other parts of the world, and I am grateful to them for their support of our sovereignty and our state.
In the meantime, we are doing everything possible to ensure that Ukraine has sufficient defense support.
