🚨🔵⚪️ Mehdi Benatia has just resigned as Olympique Marseille director, leaving the club with immediate effect.
Benatia was no longer aligned with club policy in recent times; accepted OM job for his relationship with the club but never wanted to be a problem; now leaving.
🗣️ @JacobsBen on De Zerbi: "He was always going to leave Marseille, the only surprise was that De Zerbi actually resigned, and that was January and Marseille said no we want to keep you and De Zerbi said OK, and then heading into February it looked like De Zerbi had basically resigned himself to seeing out the season and then hopefully in his eyes returning to the Premier League in the summer. Then they go and lose 5-0 to PSG, and it all blows up again, and I think De Zerbi went back to his original position."
"He's in Manchester United's thinking as well, but they would have to convince him that he's the right fit for their model, or change their model a little bit because Roberto De Zerbi, much more so than Tuchel, wants a significant say in the world of recruitment." [@UnitedStandMUFC] #mufc
