Northern girl with a phobia of baked beans (aka Trypophobia) Sometimes amusing, always tired. Radio Producer. My half-hearted views & not those of my employer.

At 11am tomorrow, #BBC Local journalists in England will begin 24hr strike action, heading to pickets for the THIRD time this year. They are are opposing brutal cuts to local radio that the #NUJ has asked the BBC to rethink.
#KeepBBCLocalRadioLocal#NUJBBCStrike
What’s at stake?
- Slashing local output from 100 to 48 hours of content.
- ‘Sharing’ programmes- ie covering a larger area so no longer local!
- Losing experienced presenters, journalists and producers.
- Cutting entire programmes.
Listeners will leave in droves

This strike is not about pay. It's about license fee payers having a BBC local radio service as it should be, local, with changes and investment in it's future, not being a regional service for hours a day and all weekend. https://t.co/VKzrUzpKmc

Just watching the regional news in the North East which comes from …. London - but no explanation to viewers as to why. Regardless of your views on this dispute surely viewers are entitled to know why they are not getting their usual service? @gerrylooknorth
