Understanding Your Brain – The Frontal Lobes
The frontal lobes control planning, emotions, decision making, behaviour, concentration and speech.
Damage can affect relationships, work, emotional regulation and everyday life — often through invisible symptoms others may not see.
Many veterans live with invisible brain injuries caused by blast exposure, concussions & repetitive head trauma.
TBI and possible CTE deserve far greater awareness, support and research.
Invisible injuries are still injuries.

🧠 Understanding Your Brain – The Cerebellum
The cerebellum controls balance, coordination, movement and fine motor skills.
Damage can affect walking, speech, eye movements, balance and everyday activities — often with invisible symptoms others may not #CTE#TBI#BrainHealth
Horse riding comes with real risk — including brain injury 🧠🐎
TBI = one major impact
RHI = repeated smaller hits over time
The culture of “just get back on” needs to change.
Recognise it. Respect it. Recover from it.

Understanding Your Brain – Part 2: The Brain Stem
The brain stem controls vital automatic functions including breathing, heart rate, swallowing, sleep and balance.
Even small injuries can have a major impact on daily life and many symptoms remain invisible to others.
🧠 NEW SERIES: Understanding Your Brain
This is the first image in our new series explaining brain anatomy and how different areas of the brain affect memory, speech, emotions, movement, vision and more.
Brain injuries can impact every person differently
Throughout June we’ll be raising awareness around:
🧠Brain anatomy & brain injuries
💬Men’s mental health
🎖 Armed Forces Day
⚠️TBI, ABI & possible CTE
👨👩👧Support for families & carers
Together we can break stigma around invisible injuries.
#BrainInjury#MensHealthWeek#CTE
Living with #CTE or brain injury can feel like living in two worlds.
One where you smile, show up & function.
And another where you recover in silence for hours or days afterwards.
People often only see the first. 💔🧠
Together we’re stronger 💚

Every mile matters 🚴♂️🧠
Brain injury can happen in seconds
but last a lifetime
Crashes + repeated impacts matter
Helmets protect your skull—not fully your brain
#Cycling#BrainInjury#Concussion#CTE
A brain injury can happen in seconds. 🧠
Recovery can take weeks, months or years.
Some people may never fully recover.
The impact of #TBI, #ABI and suspected #CTE is often invisible — but life-changing.
Awareness, prevention & support matter.
South African Patrick Lambie retired from rugby because of the number of concussions he received.
We need to shine more light on this topic, because the more I educate myself on it, the more terrifying it becomes.
A landmark 2023 study published in Acta Neuropathologica examined the donated brains of 31 former rugby union players and found evidence of CTE in 21 cases (68%).
Of those affected, 62% played exclusively at the amateur level, and the risk increased by 14% for every additional year of play.
Player welfare should absolutely more important than winning a damn rugby game.

“It’s not just the old balls.” ⚽🧠
Modern footballs weigh the same—but travel faster = greater impact
Heading + collisions + repeated impacts all matter
“Play on” shouldn’t come before brain health
#Concussion#Football#BrainInjury#CTE
CTE doesn’t just affect individuals.
It impacts families, relationships, entire lives.
📊 Many face isolation, loss of work, delayed diagnosis
No one should face this alone.
