Marshcroft Energy are owner/operators of a highly effective off-grid battery system, with lots of 2V Lead-Acid cell units. When maintained properly, they have the potential to last much longer than Li-Ion, at much lower cost. #Lead#Acid#Battery#OffGrid
The progress that Li-Ion batteries have made is fantastic. However that does not make these batteries suitable for every application. To tackle our future needs, we must look at all existing and theoretical options available.
There are 5 main considerations to improving the battery industry. Quality Control, Diagnostics, Modelling, EoL Thresholds, and SoC/SoH estimation. If we can focus innovation in these catagories, we can develop an energy network that can support the full use of renewables.
The energy sector needs to move fast to keep up with promises to cut CO2 emissions. Renewables are now low cost, but intermittent. We need storage! Our upcoming SM posts will look at lots of battery tech, give you some industry insights, and how we can engineer the energy future.
#ManufacturingMonday A Victorian farm house is not the easiest location for a ventilation system. The curious features and difficult spaces can make installing standard sized pieces very difficult. That’s why here at #MarshcroftEnergy, we #Design, #CFD test, #Build and #Install
#UK#Energy needs to be renewable. With #PV being one of the strongest contenders, we need to be using this source to power the most load intensive products, such as #Electric#Cars. But if your car is away all day, how do you charge from your panels at home? #SpareBattery#FTF
We try to use only fully renewable resources. However, while the house is still being built, heat is sometimes required from some more traditional sources. Burning wood is effective, but seems a waste of material to us. What if we turn our waste, into material? #ThermalThursday
The quality difference between using a #saw#blade and using the @PipeLaggerPro to cut pipe insulation cannot be stressed enough. This useful little gadget makes angle cuts reliable and repeatable, with clean edges - and no #mess! #WorkerWednesday
Maintaining all site tools can be a real challenge, but not as challenging as using a #blunt#drill#bit all day! Our team have #Sharpened their skills, and now our drill bits will never be blunt again, Thanks to our rolling #Grind#Wheel. #ToolingTuesday
When the machines are fired up and our team are on internal #Joinery, they produce a lot of #sawdust - Finding a useful way to use up this waste product is important, so we are developing a system to try and use it up! Keep up with #MEltd twitter to see how… #ManufacturingMonday

#WhackyWednesay When threading into timber, the threads can be very delicate. Using @JETPRESSLimited#TypeD#WallNut#Inserts means that a permanent thread can be created, that is more torsion and vibration resistant. They get the #MEltd seal of approval!
