As reported in the Sunday Times, pharmaceutical company Trace Neuroscience has begun an early-stage clinical trial of TRCN-1023, a potential treatment that could benefit the 97% of people with MND who have sporadic (non-inherited) disease.
Our Chief Scientist, Dr Brian Dickie, said:
"Although this is an early-stage trial, it represents an important step in the search for new, effective treatments for the majority of people with MND."
The MND Association is proud to have jointly funded, with the Medical Research Council, the fundamental research that helped identify this new therapeutic target and support its journey from the laboratory to clinical trial.
