@FennellJW Fascinating post! 614 (County of Glamorgan) Sqn operated over the Balkans as the only Pathfinder squadron outside the UK. They also dropped supplies to Yugoslav partisans and marked drop zones from Halifaxes & later Liberators as these pics from Jan 45 of their drops show.

On this momentous day, I’m thinking of my Granddad, Bert Wade of the Royal Engineers who landed on Gold Beach at Arromanches, almost exactly 4 years since he was evacuated when the Germans invaded. He and 1000s of others had returned.
