@rob_keyes Almost forgot: slapping your *own* watermark/tag on an image or video, when it's not your own work, invites exactly the same penalties.

The only reason this doesn't get litigated often is most folk don't know the law, how to file a valid claim, think it's too expensive, etc.

@rob_keyes And here's a kicker: in the US, you don't need to have a timely registered copyright to pursue a claim under 17 U.S.C. § 1203. You *do* need to register the work with the USCO *before* you can file your claim.
