High-Level meeting of the AU–EAC–SADC Panel of Facilitators on the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) peace process at State House, Entebbe.
#PeaceInDRC#AUMediation
I warmly welcome His Excellency Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé, President of the Republic of Togo, who is here on a working visit as part of the AU–EAC–SADC Panel of Facilitators on the DRC peace process. This panel comprises, H.E. Olusegun Obasanjo, H.E. Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta, H.E. Sahle-Work Zewde, H.E. Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi, and H.E. Catherine Samba-Panza. Our region remains committed to dialogue and lasting peace.
This should be the 3rd or 4th time that I would be posting this scene.
Though, I always tell my son that I love him. But I believe that in this movie (fences), Denzel was telling his son that he loves him, without necessarily using the word "love".
Very sweet scene.

DIPLOMACY, POWER, AND PERCEPTION
Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s remarks reflect the tone of a global power calling others to account. While superpowers often act from a position of authority, they also seek to project commitment to democracy, neutrality, and respect for national sovereignty.
If #Rwanda has any involvement in eastern DRC, it would more plausibly stem from strategic interest rather than irrationality. Effective diplomacy, therefore, lies not in moral grandstanding but in calibrated rhetoric that acknowledges realities on the ground.
Washington is more likely to achieve lasting outcomes by recognizing Kigali not as a marginal actor, but as a key partner and influential stakeholder, one whose engagement is essential to any genuine and sustainable resolution of the eastern #DRC conflict.
Now i understand why he has managed to lead Uganda for four decades. He carries a depth of knowledge that feels like a living library. Those aspiring to compete may have to wait for his eventual retirement, because whoever comes after him may not possess that same breadth of wisdom. #UgandaDecides2026 #UOX
An estimated 200,000 people have fled eastern DRC in recent days, the UN says, barely a week after a Washington peace deal was signed. This what DRC's information minister recently told my colleague @JewelKiriungi when she asked him when the fighting might stop.

RWANDA
Uvira city has been “liberated” by M23, a moment some say would have pleased Tanzania and Aftica’s hero, the late President Nyerere, who long defended Banyamulenge and other Rwandophone Congolese from Kinshasa’s ethnic cleansing. #FactsOnRwanda
The people of the Democratic Republic of the Congo have endured violence & suffering for 3 decades.
The fighting must stop & peace agreements need to be implemented without delay.
The @UN will continue to support efforts to build a peaceful future for the DRC & the region.
