So I know of this:

My usage on Cursor is just over half a billion tokens, which actually has only cost me about $24 of usage. So the differences are quite wild.

100 billion tokens isn't that high really.

It’s marketing. They want you to buy the small one as it’s a better deal and a lower ask, get you hooked on the brand then the small price goes up and you come back buying the expensive one as that now the better value.

Or they want to show a discount on the expensive one later on.

Supermarkets never focus on the single transaction.
