@easternill @E_of_Justice@SchoenbornTrent Found it and I believe it was the campaign when the regime invited an IS pocket to expand (Wilaya Homs?) to directly engage with HTS + TTiP + others. While Daula had an (in)official airforce
@easternill @E_of_Justice@SchoenbornTrent The stiff fighting for Abu ad-Duhur and Abu Dali comes to my mind, like 2017/18ish!? Remember it is as some very close coordination between many groups.
It should be kept in mind while wondering about (video) scenes from #Aleppo or elsewhere in #Syria that allegedly show fighters throwing #Palestine flags to the floor kicking and spitting at it. If one carefully checks one notices a smaller #triangle - the #Baath party flag.
Travelling through #Syria (2008) I wondered about the immense amount of #Palestine flags only to learn that this specific variation actually is the symbol of the #Baath party, adopted in 1937. Only the ratio of the red triangle distinguishes the two flags from each other.

THREAD: Armed opposition factions in #Syria make historical gains and many whom are new to the topic wonder about the #rebel's (#HTS) alleged affiliation with #Alqaeda. Having studied these groups, ideologies and counterstrategies for 14 years, I want to provide important details
While reaching out to religious minorities and protecting their communities, something many similiar-minded groups disagree with, to say the least. One could or should conclude that HTS has long broken ties with Al Qaida and formed their own ideological framework.
